Daan asked the Naked Scientists:
Dear Chris,
I live in South Africa and always try to listen to you (http://www.thenakedscientists.com/HTML/podcasts/) on Radio 702.
I developed  a taste and smell problem about 1 year ago. I was not sick at the time and it happened overnight.
1.      I suddenly can't stand the taste or smell of onions.
2.      Ditto with coffee, chocolates.
3.      All meats, although pork seems to be more palatable than other meets.
4.      Fish is ok, however, it all depends on how I cook the fish.
5.      Veggies & fruit no problem, however, peach & oranges taste funny.
6.      A lot of household cleaning fluids smell awful.
I went for an MRI scan as the Dr feared the possibility that a tumor might be the problem, thank God, nothing wrong!! The latest now is the fact that my hearing starts to deteriorates.
I simply cannot go to a restaurant anymore. This had a major impact on my life & social life. I'm 54. Male
Can you assist please!!!!!!
Daan
