I voted both, hope that's ok since I use fluorescent and incandescent. [:D]

I tolerate fluorescent tubes at work (fair enough, more efficient), but greatly prefer incandescent lamps. Incandescent is much more "homely", and I hate the ghastly colour-distortion of fluorescent (including compact-fluorescent) - most colours loose their strength and become greyer, while certain reds and oranges become totally garish. Food illuminated by FL seems to aquire a weird sickly green tinge. Yuk! It's all to do with the spectrum of the emitted light: tungsten is a smooth distribution whereas most FLs emit strongly at just 4 or 5 main wavelengths.

Apparently, according to Ontario's Electrical Safety Authority "the normal way for these energy-efficient bulbs to die" is "by charring around the base, producing smoke and emitting a bad smell".

Common long tube FL bulbs are very green.

Common compact FL bulbs tends actually to be very orange (more so that simple incandescent bulbs).

My own preference is for daylight balanced bulbs (preferably with high CRI).  Used to use incandescents daylight balanced, but as CFL bulbs that are daylight balanced have come on the market, I have switched over to them.

Still have a few incandescents (mostly QI bulbs), but with the few exceptions, they are now CFL, and one long tube FL.

Hum..All of our Florescent ones we got seem to have a hint of blue. I really like it because you can see everything yet it ain't bright unlike the ones we used to use.
