What is Nearsightedness?

Nearsightedness, or myopia is the inability to properly focus on distant objects. Objects that are near may appear in normal focus, but those at a distance will be blurred. You may find that you can read text in books or newspapers with no problem, but you have trouble reading traffic signs until you're in close proximity.

is usually brought about by a natural change in the shape of your eye that causes your eye to become more oval shaped, rather than the normal round shape. This causes the light entering the eye to focus in front of the retina, resulting in an out-of-focus image.

Myopia is not like nearsightedness as I've worn glasses for myopia since I was a young girl. When I had to wear the type of glasses that John Lennon did.
But I can focus on objects around me but can't read easily with out my specs although in someone's middle age then their eyesight gets longer not shorter.
Also in my case it is hereditical on the paternal side, all the way down to my youngest nephew,
So it's in the genes with most people that I've met.
Why not ask your local optician or GP as they can tell you loads more than I can.

Rosalind Franklin was my first cousin and one my life's main regrets is that I never met this brilliant and beautiful lady.
She discovered the Single DNA Helix in 1953, then it was taken by Wilkins without her knowledge or agreeement.
