Title: Would Ewe Drive Along This Road ?
Post by: neilep on 10/02/2009 12:30:36
This is a Bolivian road known as The Road Of Death. It is well known to be the most dangerous road in the world...hmm..I wonder why !!

It, at some points, narrows to only nine feet and is populated with many blind corners and hairpin bends.

Would ewe drive along this road ?

Geeze, I got the tummy twitters just looking at a picture of it!

You wouldn't want to meet a drunk driver coming the other way on that road. Mind you, you'ed have to be drunk to work up the courage to drive on it yourself!!!

Annual fatalities are in the hundreds. Apparently most of them are when people are reversing to allow someone to pass !

I would never drive there too...or be a passenger of someone.

If I remember correctly it is the only way in to one of the major cities in Bolivia isn't it Neil? If so, I am not going there.

Hmm...  I wonder if 'Top Gear' could be persuaded to go there for one of their features.

Just e-mailed them to ask if they'd ever considered it.

As long as Jeremy Clarkson is only allowed to drive in reverse gear along it!

Well, they [TG] never got back to me about it but I see that it did indeed feature largely in the 2009 X-mas special.

I saw the Top Gear thing. Clarkson nearly plunged into a rivine and Hammonds breaks stopped working. The boring guy nearly killed Clarkson with a knife as he shunted him up the bum (in his car) and May is scared of heights. It was indeed hair raising. Eventually Hammond got stuck in a ditch as he was pulling over to let a truck pass. The usual mayhem ensued. Silly arses!
