How deep is the sand in the Sahara and what's underneath ?
-
200 feet is the average depth of sand. Don't know for sure what's under it. I remember reading somewhere that there was an ancient riverbed beneath it, then I read that wasn't true. I know it's a high contour desert with lots of rock and quartz formation. Underneath it all...sandstone?
