zucchini - marrow squash plant whose fruit are eaten when small
Good old recipe for marrow:Chop and fry onion & garlic in a pan until onion turns translucent. Add minced beef, mushrooms, tomato puree and herbs. Fry gently until meat turns brown, then add a little beef stock.Cut a marrow in half along its length and scoop out the seeds. Fill each half with the meat, wrap in foil and bake for about an hour at 200oC (gas mark 6 : 400oF).Open the foil and sprinkle with bread crumbs and grated cheese and return to oven for 10 mins or until crumb/cheese has browned.Serve with the juices and some boiled new potatoes.Mmmm stuffed baked marrow.
