Is this a sneaky way of finding everyones ages? ;-)

I think that for me it was that footage of the girl in Vietnam in 1973 - I remember the image so clearly and yet I was only 3 at the time.

The first story I recollect (I think it was the first, although one is not always certain about the order of things one remembers from early childhood) was the funeral of Winston Churchill - I remember thinking that I was surprised he was still alive up to that point - I had regarded him as history, so I did not realise that until that time he was still living history.

I think it was probably the same year when I recollect seeing a pathe newsreel at the cinema mentioning the cancellation of the infamous TSR.2 project.

I would have been about 9 at the time.

The Profumo scandal.

Possibly as it was just after we had gotten our first TV.

Not sure, I thought it was the fire at York Minster, but I'd have been about two, so I think what I actually remember was the competition a couple of years later on Blue Peter to design new bosses to go in the roof... not sure that counts...
I remember the big autumn storm in 1987 because it was going on around me so it being on the evening news too was quite exciting.
There are quite a number of things I think I remember, but which came first I really wouldn't be able to say.
The Berlin Wall coming down made an impression, too.
