Title: Why don't our own bums make us sick?

When one tends to wipe their own rear end with rough toilet paper there is often blood. Open wounds and massive amounts of bacteria seem to usually be a big no-no.  How can the bum heal itself so rapidly and why doesn't this make us sick? Sorry if it's a crude question but I'm curious.

I've had the ol bleeding bum for most of my life. I guess I was assuming others had a bum as fragile as mine.

Along with the sandpaper you are using to wipe with...LOL..Joking aside, I agree with Bored Chemist about seeing a doctor about the problem...there are many reasons one might bleed from the rear end after defecation the least of them from the toilet paper..and or hemorrhoids, as Rd mentioned... so please do go get checked...Perhaps they will find it something simply remedied?..
