OK, I know there's a "computer stuff" section of this site but I'd prefer to leave that for folks who know what they are talking about.
My question is in the title. Does anyone here regularly use speech recognition software as an alternative to typing? I'm asking because my typing isn't that fast but my friends tell me that I can't half talk.
(I'd just like to clafify that, while the voice pattern recognition used as a security feature is important and fascinating stuff, it's not what I'm asking about.)
If anyone has any experience that they can share I'd love to hear it (even if that experience is "I tried them all and they all suck") and I'm sure others might be interested too.

I don't but I want this answered as I am so tired of typing without knowing how to do it correctly - touch-type and all that.

I haven't used any since the early days and back then it was rubbish. Voice dial on my phone works well enough so obviously the technology has moved on.
I think with any voice recognition software, the more you use it the more accurate it will become due to it "learning" your accent. Don't expect too much the first few times.

Well, it looks like I have done a better job of finding a marketing oportunity than a speech recognition system. Thanks for the replies.
Of course, if anyone would care to add anything there are at least 2 of us would like to know

Even after years of research in this area, the best speech recognition software applications still cannot recognize speech with 100% accuracy. Some applications are able to recognize over 90% of words when spoken under specific constraints regarding content and previous training to recognize the speaker's speech characteristics.
