Uh, no.  If the universe is 14 billion years old, there is no reason to believe that advanced life could form and find us by now.   I think there is likely life out there, based on the mathematics ,  but finding us is almost impossible.

It adds cost because you do have a power supply for a laptop. Its the charger.
A desktop isnt meant to be moved either, and laptops and other battery equipped devices tend to throttle the CPU to save power, even when doing a high load task.
