Feedback: Sound levels of podcasts

Sara asked the Naked Scientists:
I love your podcasts, have done for ages but they are getting worse with varying sound levels. I commonly listen to them as I go to bed, and that coding one was particularly bad. All the chat that was recorded and really interesting about Raspberry Pi was quite low, then next thing in the break of podcast someone practically shouted out of my speaker at me that I was listening to Naked Scientist with Chris Smith and Kat Arney and then it went back to soft levels. I kind of want to be a science nerd and record what the db levels of the episode was, but I don't think I can quite bring myself to it, maybe you should on the show? How bad is it when I am listening to something quite low and then it has a loud bit for my ears?
What do you think?
