Do mice really enjoy female company?

Paul asked the Naked Scientists:
I have just been reading on my BBC app "Happy memories 'perk up' stressed mice
The paragraph that interested me was "In an intriguing comparison, mice that were given a daily dose of the actual positive experience (female company again), instead of a beam of blue light to trigger its memory, showed no such improvement."
We humans have a happy memory "a beautiful Vietnamese lass with long straight black hair, a twinkle in her eyes and a charming gentle Vietnamese/French accent when she speaks". We put that memory on a pedestal in our memory and any blemishes get forgotten or smoothed over. Perhaps the mice found the female mouse ignored them or they couldn't get into a stimulating scientific discussion with her, or she started nagging them, or she didn't have good table manners.! I just want to go back to my memory!!
Absence makes the heart grow fonder.
What do you think?
