Josip Buric asked the Naked Scientists:
What happened 'before' the Big bang? Or what were the events that lead to the creation of the Big bang?
What do you think?

We presently have no good answer for this question. There are however several views about what may have been responsible for the Big Bang. But speculating about this event without evidence is not how good science is applied. It's really like throwing stuff at a wall and seeing what might stick.
It boils down to what the individual theorist finds personally appealing and there are several favorites floating around in scientific circles today. My favorite happens to be the cyclical model. What was before, will happen again, over and over again.
Do I have proof? Absolutely not, but I find it a comfortable position and the cyclical view satisfies my cerebral sensibilities.

Saint Augustine when asked "what did god do before creating heaven and Earth" replied "creating hell for those who asked to many questions".
I don't think physics has any better answers than theology my personal view is either nothing or the big crunch.

No one knows what initiated the big bang. Therefore it is not currently possible to answer the question of what came before. Will it ever be answered is the better question.

No, you yourself is what makes a future. A 'Big Bang' is something that makes us, but it does not profile us,
that's 'free will'
