Chunky_Soup asked the Naked Scientists:
Hi,
I've been a fan of the podcast for a while now and finally have a
question that I don't think has been asked before. My wife got me some of those breathe right strips because I snore at night.
About two nights ago I was opening one of them up to use it and they are sealed in between two pieces of paper just like band-aids are. The adhesive holding these two pieces of paper together, as I pulled them apart, illuminated.
The room was very dark so i saw it very well. What is it that is in the adhesive that makes it glow when pulled apart? why does this happen?
