Title: The Science Of Clicking Links.
Post by: neilep on 28/04/2006 16:34:04

In the other thread http://www.thenakedscientists.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=4034  I can’t help myself !..I had to click these links, even though I knew they would lead to a blank page.

Why do we do it ?...This behaviour I am sure is  transferred to other every day things also, but what is it ?..

…..perhaps an instinctive curiosity ,that, despite our knowledge of  what the result will be , we must simply have our curiosity satiated by our own practical and personal experience…

…. It doesn’t matter that we already know what the result is........we simply must experience it for ourselves.

What do YOU think ?

<h2><font color="red">Do NOT Click here (http://funnyjunk.com/pages/awesome.htm)</font id="red"></h2>

You will regret it!

If i don't click on links like this then i get a funny feeling inside of me and it will fill my thoughts for the next few minutes as to what is behind it. Is there any evolutionary benefits to this seemingly inbuilt curiosity? Maybe it helps you find food in the wild?

i never click on links unless the html looks very harmless. this used to drive my friends nuts- because theyd try to trap me with links, like some really fat woman stuck in a bathtub, or an inescapable page that says loudly "hey guys! im looking at gay porn" all the time. i just never fell for it. ESSPECIALLY because the link usually says something ridiculous-trying to seem harmless. like "COOL SITE" "NEAT PIC". and no one would ever call a cool site or a neat pic a cool site or a neat pic.

in this case, the link in the second post says funnyjunk.com/awesome. AWESOME? my ass! theyre trying to hide whatever it is. i wont fall for it, even if its a double-blind joke and its something harmless.
