BP suggests that 30,000 barrels of oil per day are spurting from the ruptured drill site on the seafloor of the Gulf of Mexico. But how much oil is in a "barrel"?
-
I believe that a barrel of oil is 42 American gallons. Thanks for comments. Joe L. Ogan

I believe Joe is correct. 42 US Gallons, or 158.9873 Liters

1,260,000 gallons of oil @ I think I heard 6k-9k psi, I may be mistaken, Since the oil is a mixed with methanol gas that expands as it transits the BOP blowout prevention apparatus.
The pressure is not an exact number because of this condition makes it spike at various times.

I think you mean methane, Tommy. Methanol is quite different (and not a gas even at 1 Atm, let alone however many it is down at the blowout).

Yep I stand corrected, big difference between dry gas and methane
