Title: ganja!
Post by: ariel on 11/08/2006 01:23:01
well i hope this is worthy of being under general science rather than just chat.

I'd love to hear everyone's view oncannabis sativa, especially on a science forum haha.
It seems to me that from a scientific perspective there is not much wrong with the drug; cigarettes seem much more harmful! (yes, i know however that there are chemicals and cancer causing toxins released...) and I understand this whole "it's a gateway drug," but i don't think thats enough to justify making it illegal especially with its medicinal benefits.

OH yes! haha... so I read somewhere it is legal to have some in possesion in the UK is this true? any potheads on the site? haha [:D]

and don't hold back any funny stories you'd like to share [;)]

ive never done it. being 19 and always around other people doing it.. here are my brief observations

1- the medical "benefits" are a little overblown. i once read a local independant press declare it a "medical breakthrough"! penicilin is a medical breakthrough! a polio vaccine is a medical breakthrough! the appetite increase from pot is a medical afterthought. it has, and should be, used for pain reduction and increased appetite- but if you want it to be legal just so you can smoke it recreationally, just say so! dont pretend like youre doing it to help all those people who have trouble eating, youre doing it cause you like to get high, which is ok.

2- i think its effects are so pointless that its not worth doing recreationally. what a waste.

3- alot of pots "toxicity" is because it is smoked. ingested in other ways, the carcinogens and other toxins are negligable. its not good to inhale smoke.

4- i have never done a recreational drug. ive only done caffeine and nicotine, and only incidentally, not for the effect. no pot, no alcohol. that said, i think all recreational drugs should be legal. what i think is right to do to my body should not be imposed on anyone else and no government has the right to control what you do to yourself. not to mention the efforts to stop drug use and distribution are a huge waste that could be used to stop real predators.

I know 3 people that have smoked it for over 10 years minimum and 1 has a wife and family. The other 2 sit in the house on the net most days lol. I do that alot and I don't use it so...

My point is it hasn't ruined any of their lives.

This is categorically not true – what is true is that if you only have a very small quantity, it is most likely the police will not waste their time over you, since the total punishment for a first offence for personal use is not worth the paperwork – but it is not technically legal.

What they have done is downgraded cannabis from a class B to a class C drug, lessening the punishment for it (not that most people were ever punished for it).

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/3223385.stm
quote:

MPs have backed a move to downgrade cannabis, putting it in the same group as tranquilisers and steroids.
The reclassification of the drug from Class B to Class C was supported by a majority of 156, despite Tory warnings it would lead more young people into harder drug use.
Junior Home Office minister Caroline Flint rejected claims that cannabis would become "semi-legal", claiming the move was part of an "honest and credible" strategy to tackle the wider drug problem.
The changes, which will come into effect in January next year, mean penalties for possession of the drug will be lessened, but dealers could face up to 14 years in jail.
Under guidelines drawn up by the Association of Chief Police Officers last month, police will also retain the power to arrest users in special circumstances, such as when the drug is smoked outside schools.

Mr Blunkett believes the law must be changed to let police spend more time dealing with more harmful Class A drugs like crack cocaine and heroin which account for more crime.
At the moment, about 80,000 people are arrested and fined for cannabis possession every year.
After a change in rules, anyone caught in possession of cannabis will only receive a warning and will have the drug confiscated.

The above is a news story from October 2003.

There is an association between cannabis use and psychosis.
However it is difficult to prove causation: it could be that some mentally ill persons self-medicate with cannabis,
 i.e. their psychopathology pre-existed their cannabis use.

Well, ariel, glad to see you participating once more.

And thank you for the subject.

First, let me quote from the website http://www.stephenjaygould.org/

"Stephen Jay Gould (1941-2002) was among the best known and widely read scientists of the late 20th century. A paleontologist and educator at Harvard University, Gould made his largest contributions to science as the leading spokes-person for evolutionary theory. His monthly columns in Natural History magazine and his popular works on evolution have earned him numerous awards and one of the largest readerships in the popular-science genre — penning altogether over twenty successful books throughout his career.

"For more than 30 years Gould served on the faculty at Harvard, where he was Alexander Agassiz Professor of Zoology, Professor of Geology, Biology, and the History of Science, as well as curator for Invertebrate Paleontology at the institution's Museum of Comparative Zoology."

And from Wikipedia see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stephen_Jay_Gould

The point is this. In 1982 Dr. Gould was diagnosed with abdominal mesothelioma. Both during chemotherapy and afterwards he used ganja to deal with the pain and nausea. Hemp has other medicinal uses. Gould was an advocate for the medical use of MJ. It does not seem to have effected him adversely.

The effects of cannabis are much milder than those of the more ordinarily used pain medications. Opiates leave one in a state of depression and/or depersonalization that, for many, is very difficult to recover from.

As with a psychoactive substances, moderation is a key element in mediating use. There are some who seem incapable of this moderation so using any substance in this class for them is not wise.

The mind is like a parachute. It works best when open.  -- A. Einstein

I tried (unsucessfully) to broach this topic some time ago and freely admit I love the mary jane it was some thing i did socially,in private and with girlfriends. It freed me from the shyness and social ackwardness that has plagued my life it brought me joy and a feeling of serenity that I have never felt in any other way. I only quit because my current job does random drug tests and as soon as I have another job that wont I will be back to marys sweet embrace.

and before i get any angry retorts I always used the same rules for weed as I did booze no 1 being no driving.

I have to say that I too have enjoyed the weed for many years and still do.

I do not smoke cigarettes or even drink alcohol and so it is my only vice.

My head is not what it used to be.

I am in the medical field but I have not done any research, so most of my info is only anecdotal and second hand.

I do know that it isn't good for you. Unfiltered and untreated -- not good. I have heard that it can give various types of infections based on what is growing on the plant. Have you ever seen the shows where they show what a grow op house looks like after? All the fungi everywhere, I wouldn't want that in my lungs.

I listend to a 30 year old man's lungs once. He never smoked a tobbacco cigarette. But he freely admitted that he smoke weed almost everday since his teens. In all lobes he had this horrible weeze. Doctor gave him 3 months to live. I seen him because he was trying to kill himself. I wonder if I should delete this part -- kind of a buzzkill.

And, lastly most (bot not all) the chronics I know are in dead end jobs, in jail or don't have jobs. I find if they aren't high they are somewhat shorter tempered.

But most of this is just my opinion

thats not always true nexus I smoked weed for yaers and currently hold a civil engineering job in a very dangerous area. the idea that you smoke weed only if you want a low I.Q and crappy job is propaganda to villifie weed...true weed is popular with the unemployed and lazy but so is alcohol both are used by such persons to escape the dull monotony of thier lives whereas my friends and I used it to increase our enjoyment of our social lives in short like every other drug its use is what the taker intends it to be.

I have very little experience of it, I don't think it is a good thing, and can probably do you harm, especially if used in large quantities.

 However I think that if something that is used as widely as Cannabis is illeagal, especially the supply side, it is just giving loads of money to criminals, and means that you can't regualte the strength, regulate what the brown vaguely plant based stuff you buy is,  put health warnings on packets, and for that matter tax it (As I am not going to buy any this sounds like a sound idea [:)]).

 I think you would probably get lower use in 10 years time if you legalised it, taxed it lots, and had lots of public information adverts.

My understanding, at least with opiates, so maybe also with THC, that it behaves differently when taken as an analgesic because the state of the brain is different when it is in pain than when taken otherwise.

I say keep it illegal: its the only way to keep it safe. Once it is legalized, and large business has an opportunity to profit from it, you wouldn't want to smoke a B laced with all the crap they add to cigarettes.

 Legalize it to the extent an individual has the right to grow a small amount for personal use. It would be hard to enforce, but no harder to enforce that law as it is to enforce the current law against its use entirely.

Keep it illegal

but If people wish to smoke it then i wouldn't condemn them as drinking in my opinion is far worse. I used to smoke 5 to 6 spliffs everyday for ten years and whilst i did enjoy it i stopped because i grew up and realized how bad for me it was and how it was affecting my day to day performance.

It has no real benefits in reality no matter what anybody says, its a carcinogenic, it makes you lazy ,gives you short term paranoia and plays havoc with your memory and recall,so if your studying or will be soon taking exams don't take it.

Also once you've been on it for a while your body becomes so used to its presence that you end up smoking and spending three, four or even five times what you did in the beginning to get a decent buzz and as it is in general smoked without a filter is worse for your lungs than smoking a cigarette, much worse.

OK i understand there are a couple of condition which it can help with pain relief and comfort but that's it a couple of conditions. Try smoking a spliff whilst you got a head ache or tooth ache or almost any other affliction which is causing you pain and see how much extra you feel and notice that pain.

Its bad sides totally out-way its good points which is in general only the happy feeling you only get in the beginning when you first start smoking it or during the the first joint, but most people sooner or later give up once they grow up and realize how it affecting their mind, health, bank balance and lives and find it very easy to do so provided they smoke cigarette's to overcome the nicotine addition.
If you don't smoke cigarettes then you will feel the same withdrawal that a cigarette smokier gets when they give up.

As i said earlier it may help with comfort and pain relief with a few certain conditions like arthritis or Multiple Sclerosis and if it helps you then that's good but for most people smoking weed does more bad than good.

The sooner they come out with a drug derived from the active ingredient in weed the better, i take it you would prefer to take a pill that didnt get you stoned rather than smoke the leaf which does. [:)]

actually in response to a post earlier the actual known cases of cannibis causing schizophrenia is extemely low, almost low enough to be considered a myth, and in most cases it has been because the user has shut him/herself of from the outside world, sometimes creating their own world, so in theory this is more like cabin fever wouldn't you agree? on a plus note i think that taking it actually makes you think alot more clearer, probably cause you cant really be botered to move and have alot of time to think...in my experience anyway lol any thoughts???

HI TO ALL LISTEN TO THE MUSIC HEAR THE VIBBES................One Love! One Heart!
Let's get together and feel all right.
Hear the children cryin' (One Love!);
Hear the children cryin' (One Heart!),
Sayin': give thanks and praise to the Lord and I will feel all right;
Sayin': let's get together and feel all right. Wo wo-wo wo-wo!

Let them all pass all their dirty remarks (One Love!);
There is one question I'd really love to ask (One Heart!):
Is there a place for the hopeless sinner,
Who has hurt all mankind just to save his own beliefs?

One Love! What about the one heart? One Heart!
What about - ? Let's get together and feel all right
As it was in the beginning (One Love!);
So shall it be in the end (One Heart!),
All right!
Give thanks and praise to the Lord and I will feel all right;
Let's get together and feel all right.
One more thing!

Let's get together to fight this Holy Armagiddyon (One Love!),
So when the Man comes there will be no, no doom (One Song!).
Have pity on those whose chances grows t'inner;
There ain't no hiding place from the Father of Creation.

Sayin': One Love! What about the One Heart? (One Heart!)
What about the - ? Let's get together and feel all right.
I'm pleadin' to mankind! (One Love!);
Oh, Lord! (One Heart) Wo-ooh!

Give thanks and praise to the Lord and I will feel all right;
Let's get together and feel all right.
Give thanks and praise to the Lord and I will feel all right;
Let's get together and feel all right.

 Let my people Grow.

True

Not true.

In general for most causes of pain smoking weed ,ganja, skunk, sensi ,solids what ever you wish to call it heightens your ability to feel that pain.

I don't like misinformation especially when it can affect people's health.

Hear the children cryin' (One Love!);
Hear the children cryin' (One Heart!),
Sayin': give thanks and praise to the Lord and I will feel all right;
Sayin': let's get together and feel all right. Wo wo-wo wo-wo!

Let them all pass all their dirty remarks (One Love!);
There is one question I'd really love to ask (One Heart!):
Is there a place for the hopeless sinner,
Who has hurt all mankind just to save his own beliefs?

One Love! What about the one heart? One Heart!
What about - ? Let's get together and feel all right
As it was in the beginning (One Love!);
So shall it be in the end (One Heart!),
All right!
Give thanks and praise to the Lord and I will feel all right;
Let's get together and feel all right.
One more thing!

Let's get together to fight this Holy Armagiddyon (One Love!),
So when the Man comes there will be no, no doom (One Song!).
Have pity on those whose chances grows t'inner;
There ain't no hiding place from the Father of Creation.

Sayin': One Love! What about the One Heart? (One Heart!)
What about the - ? Let's get together and feel all right.
I'm pleadin' to mankind! (One Love!);
Oh, Lord! (One Heart) Wo-ooh!

Give thanks and praise to the Lord and I will feel all right;
Let's get together and feel all right.
Give thanks and praise to the Lord and I will feel all right;
Let's get together and feel all right.
LOVE TO ALL

Hi Members
Just got a email

Hi, very very sad news in the world of Roots Reggae...

http://www.cbc.ca/story/arts/national/2006/08/20/josephhill-obit.html
>Reggae icon Joseph Hill of Culture dies
>Last Updated Sun, 20 Aug 2006 15:43:09 EDT
>CBC Arts
>
>Joseph Hill, the lead singer for the seminal Jamaican roots reggae
>group Culture and a man once hailed as a "founding fathers of black
>consciousness," has died unexpectedly while on tour in Europe.
>
>Hill, 57, was with the group in Berlin when he fell ill suddenly on
>Saturday morning and died, according to his daughter, Andrea. The
>Jamaica Gleaner newspaper said he died from liver failure.
>
>Hill spent 27 years at the helm of Culture, regarded as one of
>reggae's fundamental bands.
>
>"He was truly among the greats when it comes to reggae music. The
>music has lost a stalwart," reggae singer Ken Boothe told the
>Jamaican Star newspaper.
>
>"Culture made a great contribution to the development of reggae music."
>
>Hill's music career began in 1972 when he joined the Soul Defenders
>as a percussionist.
>
>However, he became most famous with Culture, originally called the
>African Disciples. The group consisted of Hill, Albert Walker and
>Kenneth Dayes, who left the group in the 1990s and was replaced by
>Telford Nelson.
>
>Two Sevens Clash, released in 1976, was Culture's most influential
>record, gaining wide popularity in Jamaica and Britain. The album
>was a collection of songs written in repudiation of the Jamaican
>government's state of emergency called that year.
>
>Hill wrote Culture's most famous songs, including Natty Never Get
>Weary, I'm Not Ashamed, This Train, International Herb and Two
>Sevens Clash.
>
>Radio Jamaica has called Hill "one of the founding fathers of black
>consciousness."
>
>Culture released 26 albums of original material, most recently
>World Peace in 2003.
>
>Culture toured extensively in Africa, Japan, Israel, Britain and
>Northern Europe.
>
>After Hill's death, the group said on its website that it has
>cancelled the rest of the European tour. However, the statement said
>Culture "may perform future concerts with Joseph's son Kenyatta
>standing in on lead vocals as a tribute to his father."

>JOSEPH HILL (1949-2006)
>
>On August 19 the reggae world lost one of its most prominent
>figures. Joseph Hill, the leader of the veteran reggae group,
>Culture unexpectedly passed away from a sudden illness. At the time,
>the group was in Berlin, Germany at the mid-point of a European tour.
>
>Recently, Hill had received a number of honors - including an
>induction into the Jamaican Reggae Walk of Fame and a 2005
>Independence Award presented by the Prime Minister of Jamaica. This
>year the group continued to draw rave reviews with typically upbeat
>performances at the 'Bob Marley 61st Birthday Celebration' in Ghana
>and 'Reggae Sunsplash 2006'.
>
>Joseph Hill will probably be best remembered for the impact Culture
>had on the reggae scene when they first appeared in 1976. During
>this period the group had a string of highly successful singles for
>producers Joe Gibbs and Sonia Pottinger. Perhaps most well known was
>the song 'Two Sevens Clash' which, due to its infectious rhythm and
>apocalyptic imagery, left a lasting impression on both Jamaicans and
>UK punks. The 'Two Sevens Clash' album was a landmark in reggae
>music and was named by Rolling Stone magazine in 2002 as one of the
>'50 Coolest Records' - the only single artist reggae album to make
>the list. The group also scored a major hit with 'Stop Fussing and
>Fighting', a song that addressed the chaotic political climate of
>the late 1970s and the attempt on Bob Marley's life.
>
>Joseph Hill and Culture quickly developed a reputation as a fearsome
>performing group. The group put in a stunning performance at the
>'One Love Peace Concert' in 1978, and was soon regularly touring the
>United States, Europe and Africa. In recent years the group has not
>displayed any signs of slowing down as they continued to perform at
>least one hundred concerts each year - with Hill's wife Pauline
>performing road manager duties. Fans of the group know that Hill
>continued to be an electrifying presence on stage - part deejay as
>he directed his band to reconfigure songs on stage and part teacher
>as he commented on Jamaican history and current political issues. In
>his lyrics, Hill often explored how the legacy of slavery continued
>to have an influence on Jamaican citizens. Yet, what made Culture
>unique was that Hill always tempered his messages by having a smile
>on his lips and a dance in his feet. He was never without a good
>joke at hand.
>
>Growing up in the parish of St. Catherine Jamaica, Joseph Hill has
>often recounted how he built a homemade drum as a child. He first
>became involved in the Jamaican music scene as a sound system
>deejay. By the late 1970s he was performing as a percussionist for
>the Soul Defenders group who were based out of Linstead. It was with
>this group (which included such figures as Nana McLean and Vincent
>Morgan) that Hill made his first recording at Coxsone Dodd's
>legendary Studio One - both as a musician and lead singer. Notably,
>the group backed such Studio One stars as Burning Spear and Dennis
>Brown.
>
>In the early 70s, Joseph performed with two groups that included
>future reggae star Glen Washington - C35 Incorporated and Stepping
>Stone. In 1976, Hill formed the harmony trio Culture with his cousin
>Albert Walker and Kenneth Dayes. The group immediately struck a
>chord with audiences by combining sharp social commentary and catchy
>rhythms. Hill has often noted that the group earned their name
>Culture. The group gained the reputation as one of the most reliable
>and enjoyable acts in reggae music. They had a string of memorable
>albums - most recently the album World Peace for Heartbeat Records
>in 2003. Significantly, Hill was not content to let Culture be a
>mere oldies act. In recent years he had recorded duets with Buju
>Banton and Anthony B., and demonstrated a keen desire to be both
>faithful to his roots and a contemporary artist. Joseph Hill was
>remarkable for his ability to simultaneously look backward and
>forward. He will be greatly missed by both Culture fans and the
>reggae community.
>
>Condolences go out to Pauline Hill, Kenyatta Hill, the entire Hill
>family, Albert Walker, Telford Nelson, long time agent George
>Michailow and the numerous musicians who formed the backing groups
>Dub Mystic, Moja Nya and Forces of Justice.

Hey Rastaman

I live with two dj's and so I hear plenty of all sorts, quite a lot of it is Reggae. I can understand why people like it, it just doesn't flick my switch at all. I have been found in a dark corner talking to myself whilst wiggling my arse to a couple of Reggae tunes, but that's about it for me I'm afraid.

I've got a couple of mates who are really into it though, they usually play Reggae out at the nights they dj.

Some days it's not even worth knawing at the straps

Now that mention it Ariel, I'm curious about something.  Some ppl have smoked this certain herb to help them sleep.  Would digesting it have the same effects as smoking it?  Does anyone know?

yes..im not too sure if it will give the equivalent feeling you would get from smoking the same amount
...i think digesting it will give you the effect but it may take longer for you to first feel it
whereas its faster to get the effects of THC when it has entered through the lungs

Hi (or should that be High) Rastaman,
did you instruct your surgeon not to remove any tissue from your back, as it would be against your religion ? ...

" In July 1977, Marley was found to have malignant melanoma in a football (soccer) wound on his right hallux (big toe). Marley refused amputation, citing worries that the operation would affect his dancing, as well as the Rastafarian belief that the body must be "whole":

He finally agreed to undergo minor surgery to excise the cancer, which was kept secret from the public.

The cancer eventually spread to Marley's brain, lungs, liver, and stomach. After recently playing two shows at Madison Square Garden as part of his fall 1980 Uprising Tour, he collapsed while jogging in NYC's Central Park. The remainder of the tour was subsequently cancelled.

Bob Marley played his final concert at the Stanley Theater in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on September 23, 1980. The live version of "Redemption Song" on Songs of Freedom was recorded at this show. Marley afterwards sought medical help from Munich specialist Josef Issels, but his cancer had already progressed to the terminal stage. "

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bob_Marley#Battle_with_cancer

The moral of this story:-
had Mr Marley converted sooner from a belief in religion to a belief in science, he would be probably be alive today.
" Mortality/Morbidity: If detected early, melanoma can be cured with surgical excision."

Rastaman, I'm kind of curious myself...more of what Robert was asking.
It is really concerning if you your doctors know you use marijuana... its; how do you go through these treatments while still adhering to the beliefs of rastafarians?

I have recently become quite interested in this religion (or way of life as rastafarians claim it to be).
rastaman, can I inquire about what made you decide to become a rastafarian?

Here though I trod through this valley
I will fear no evil
Here though I trod through this valley
I will fear no evil   Psalm 23:4 - Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.
'Cause I know
Jah guide, Jah guide, Jah guide
Jah guide, Jah guide I through this valley
And I know he will
When I'm trodding through this valley
I know he will

Though my enemies fight me everyday
I will fear no evil
Though my enemies set traps in my way
Still I will fear no evil

'Cause Jah guide, Jah guide, Jah guide
Jah guide, Jah guide I through this valley
And I know he will
When I'm trodding through this valley
I know he will

Many pretty workers dig pits every day
But I don't fear no evil
Oh te pretty workers fight me everyday
Still I will fear no evil

'Cause Jah guide, Jah guide, Jah guide
Jah guide, Jah guide I through this valley
And I know he will
When I'm trodding through this valley
I know he will
Pestilence lurks in dark places
And I fear no evil
Destruction walk with smiling faces
Still I will fear no evil   Psalm 91:5-6 - Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night; nor for the arrow that flieth by day; Nor for the pestilence that walketh in darkness; nor for the destruction that wasteth at noonday.
'Cause Jah guide, Jah guide, Jah guide
Jah guide, Jah guide I through this valley
And I know he will
When I'm trodding through this valley
I know he will

When I'm walking the streets - I know he will
When I'm smoking my pipe - I know he will
When I'm trodding the earth - I know he will
When I'm driving the road - I know he will
When they dig pits in my way - I know he will

It already is in the hands of big business - but it is criminal business.  Much rather it was legal, and subject to strict licensing conditions.

So if you are not condemning these people, then why would you condemn them to having a criminal record?

If you don't smoke cigarettes then you will feel the same withdrawal that a cigarette smokier gets when they give up.

Not tried it myself, but in general I would not have any argument with the above; but is saying that something is bad of itself sufficient reason to turn otherwise merely slightly misguided citizens into criminals?

Because if you make it legal then you increase its availability which would be bad for the future of our children and the country.

People who first smoke cigarettes and then start dabbling with weed often allow the weed to take over from the cigarettes to the point where everything they smoke contains it if their supply of the drug is good and unrestricted.

This would lead too problems as too many children these days smoke cigarettes and for many of them smoking weed is like a natural progression but  something at the moment which they only do occasionally as amount they smoke is restricted due to its limited availability and cost.
Make it legal and increase its availability to the level of normal cigarettes and that crafty fag in the school toilets will more commonly become that crafty joint.

This would totally destroy the futures of many children as schoolwork and weed don’t go together even in small amounts.

It may not be a perfect but life ain't perfect and sometimes steps have to be taken to protect the few who are not mature or sensible enough to protect themselves.

although making it legal would allow for it to be taxed, as mentioned above, there is no reason why the age restrictions for buying legal weed couldn't be raised to say...21+. if it was 16 like cigarettes, then yeah, kids would be smoking weed like it was going out of fashion, i was the same at school, buying smokes as young as 14...simply because i LOOKED old enough.
I think we should keep it illegal. police dont mind seen as it takes too long for them to fill out the paperwork to charge you for possession, (unless of course you've just scored 3 ounces from your local dealer) and the goverment dont really care seen as they get a certain cut (donations so to speak) for allowing shipments in. of course they arent allowing it in freely, far from it, but enough to keep the balance. Id love to know if anyone has any info on how much black market money our goverment gets a percentage of. i know it exists, and evidence of goverment supported weed growing happened in the US during WW2 as some people may know..whether it still happens im not so sure.
Although maybe we should go the same road as canada, allow people with chronic ilnesses to grow and use it. THATS actually benifiting mankind, not just getting them trashed as some of us often do lol

Weed isn't imported here, cocaine is. Weed is grown in houses, or in spare rooms in houses. The problem with it though is this... When growing it the growers spray the windows, with a chemical that keeps the atmosphere in the room the same, and so you can't detect the heat off the windows or ceelings with police helicopters. This spray has lil beads of glass of it. And it gets onto the crop. Then when they cut the crop, it looks like the white hairs that is on the bud anyway. So the street dealers can say 'look at the white crystals on it thats the THC that gets u stoned'. Making it look good, when its not, its glass. Then when you smoke it hot beads of glass go into your lungs and over years they make massive holes in your lungs.. So basicly, what you want to know if you're going to smoke weed is WHERE IS IT GROWN AND HOW. If you don't know this, please do not become a heavy smoker because its much more damaging to you than cigarettes are. The roach you put in a spliff doesn't get rid off the other nasty chemicals like a cigarettes filter does ither. This is why it SHOULD BE LEGAL, so you can buy prerolled filtered spliffs.
Aswell as that reason for it being legal, growers are actually cross breeding plants and genetically altering them to make it alot more potent than the 'natural' strains. The weed you smoke is not natural, it has been altered by man. This is why alot more people are turning into skitzophrenics off it, and going mad.

For me personally, I started smoking weed when I was 14. And that was a few spliffs with my mates, every few days. It remained the same untill I was about 17. Then I started to become paranoid thinking people where staring at me, or talking about me when they where talking about something is because the words they spoke related to me... I realised this, and then stopped smoking it. Now when I have a spliff I get exactly the same, unless I'm drunk. When I'm drunk it just 'blesses' me lol, like it did when I first started smoking it. This is just something to do with how the brain works, and the next day I feel fine. But I am 20 now, and in my years of smoking it I have noticed the strength of it get alot stronger. I used to smoke a full spliff, with the weed covering all the tobacco, and still do. But have noticed the effects are different. If it was legal it would be a more of relaxed sence of high, rather than the paranoid one, because the weed would be less potent.
Also weed DOES lead to harder drugs, I've tried cocaine, and extasy. But I only do them if I'm at a rave, or somewhere I won't end up talking madness to some random person I don't know lol..
I have seen alot of people I went to school with, who will do cocaine and tablets on weeknights because they are unemployed and without realising it the drugs have ruined their lives. The typical thing people belive is that if you do cocaine and tablets, it leads 2 injecting heroin, thats faulse. Also you do not have to rob houses to fund your addiction, but you may aswell because drug ABUSE will ruin your life ither way. This happens to some and not others.
Honestly though, if you want to try weed, try it and make sure you don't smoke it during the week, just on weekends.
If the strain of weed I'm talking about became legal, it would be just like alcohol, only it wouldn't lead to violence, as hardly any people who are stoned are looking for a fight. Unlike people with bellys full of stella who haven't got the charisma to pull the top totty in the club lol, Thats my experience from weed and my oppinion on legalisation...
