Title: Which movie do you like
Post by: suncorpse on 20/04/2006 17:51:42
science related, mistery, comedy, tragedy, family related, political or you don't like to see the movies, do you like songs in the movies or not, do you prefer the short period movie of some 1 hour duration or you always prefer long time movie of 3 hours.

are there any certain impacts of movies in our routine life, what is the place of the movie in making a pivotal role in our education.

do you think that there are least number of movies in the world which are based on the science and technology.

please state your choices and also tell me that why  you like that sort of movies. :)

Personally, i enjoy films that have twists and make you think. A great example of this is Saw which, while disturbing, has a number of clever traps and a number of twists that are fun to try to figure out early on.
I really like the TV series Prison Break where the main character, Michael Scholefield, has low latent inhibition, which coupled with his IQ makes him a genius, and so he makes ingenius, if sometimes unbelieveable, plans to break his brother out of jail.

Films like this are great because they amaze me with the intelligence of the characters, even though i really know they are fictional, and inspire me to think about things in different ways.

I have two main genres of films slapstick and serious drama in fact my top five go Old school, american history x, the princess bride, shawshank redemption and ??????? ( the reason number 5 is ??????? is that it was a film i saw many years ago really loved and have never forgotten but did not get the name and have never been able to find it since) i suppose the only common theme in these films is that all have a character that you are simultaniously repelled by yet like.
a good length is 2 to 2.5 hours

J.B.S Haldane on the perforated eardrums which were a consequence of his pressure experiments "the drum generally heals up; and if a hole remains in it, although one is somewhat deaf, one can blow tobacco smoke out of  the ear in question, which is a social accomplishment".

Ukmicky,  tom hanks is a great star, I have heard his name from many mouts. S. george likes the film with a duration of 2-2.5 hours, that's fine, this is the sumptuous period to enjoy the film, and if the story itself winding in a hour that's creats sort of hurry and our brain confuse in such a little period to understand throughly. the social and today's modern films are normally appreciated by the youths.

In my opinion the movie which is of insertion music into it gets a good enjoyment instead of only listening dialogues.

I personally am attracted to historical and biopic films. Especially war stories. Or anything directed by Quentin Tarantino.

Generally 2 and a half hours is a good length, over that and it can become tedious to watch.

And Tom Hanks is an amazing actor, I'm so excited for the DaVinci Code to come out! May 16th everyone :).

Suncorpse - I have always wondered about the attraction to Bollywood style movies (I assume that is what you mean by music insertion, and you are from India). Any (preferably in English or subtitled) you could recommed?

Well, I couldn't agree with Meg more
being that Reservoir Dogs, Pulp Fiction, Jackie Brown, and Kill Bill are among my favorites

Pulp Fiction is of course my favorite of all!
I like how it has different stories in one...and how the scenes aren't in chronological order...
its just INGENIOUS...
and hilarious

Its a toss up between Pulp Fiction and Reservoir Dogs, I love the scene where Micheal Madsen dances to 'stuck in the middle with you'

Nothing can beat pulp fiction.

Ok that maybe a slight over exaggeration.

Manhunter - an absolutely fantastic film, far superior to its 'successor' Silence of the Lambs (over-rated carp i think). Also, needless to say Godfather I and II only.

free it is absolutly crazy you say that!! Last night my roommate and I were having the inescapable discussion between Manhunter or Red Dragon, Manhunter without a doubt, the directing, the awkwardness of lighting and camera angles, Gil Grissom! Whats not to love?

EG, glad both yourself and your room-mate agree. manhunter is indeed a fantastic film: it has some fantastic moments (the blind woman stroking the tiger for example), brilliantly scripted, not a wasted word. brilliantly casted also (i forget the name of the detective with the thick moustache - but he is impeccably cast). love the poster tagline also: 'just you and me now, sport'.

life of brian knocks them into a cocked hat,the intricate cinematography, the suttle lighting, enticing dialogue, and of course the scene where terry jones (brians mother)tells the multitude to "p*** orf".this film is an epic of biblical proportions lovies !

there is least percentage in the world about the movies which are based on science and frictions, particularly on technology and science there are only few number of movies found, but the other stuff is great one. I like mostly, the men in black, alien vs predator, huny I shrunk the kids, arnold swarzneger's movies, silvestor stalion's movies, carl sagon's cosmos series, the starwar etc. but i don't like adds between the movie.

ahh yes of course Godfather I & II[:)]
Godfather is one exception to my theory that sequels are always much worse than the first, and that it would be soooo much better if they had not made it at all....
and then...
...
they go and make Godfather III...
and my theory was once again proven correct

thanks ariel for the reply, there is great boom in the movie industry to make the movies in the name of I, II, III and so on, it just easy to maintain the craze of certain movie, this sort is the best one by giving the name xyz I, II and so on.

interesting to note also that films that warrant a Certificate of 18 are being made less and less frequently (compared to say the 70s/80s and even early 90s, even taking into account the certification markers that say what was once 15 is now PG etc.). this explains why many 'horror' films don't really deserve that tag: i mean, can a PG or 12 certificate 'horror' film really be that horrific - i don't think so...i haven't seen a decent horror film that scared the s*** out of me for god knows...

I love movies! Have bin watching them all my life. My family had a small part of a cinema in the town I grew up in so I went everyday. I would find it impossible to give a list of what I like because I like so mush on all sorts of different levels. Even really bad movies had a weird charm of their own.

thanks hadrian for the reply, here. I think there are number of boxes in the world still pending in the store room of which the movies which were not run in the theatre for a long period, means there is a great wastage of the ruined tapes of the movies. means movies also creates wastage, but is that recycled one.  And free4440273 are advising that "would you  care to rewrite that :), my answer is here : I am not a script writer.   :)

that's fine free4440273, infact you will be surprise that "many movies have no stories" they are just run on the presentation, fiting and so on, there is nothing more important in the movie, many time what message "that movie" is giving, become a quiz for a spectetor like me.
