                                                                      Major Religions & the Forehead
                                                                               By Suhail Jalbout

Upon studying the major religions of the world, I noticed a very interesting common feature. Most of the religions focus on the forehead. The methods they use differ from one religion to another. Starting from the earliest religion to the most recent reveals the different ways in which the forehead is used.

HINDUISM (2500 B.C.)1
The Hindu draws a mark on the forehead known as Tilka or Tilak or Tilakam. The mark on the forehead of men takes the form of a line or lines and on women it takes the form of a dot.2

JUDIASM (2000 B.C.)3
The Jewish people wear Tefillin during their Morning Prayer. The Tefillin are two small cube leather boxes which contain scrolls of Torah passages. One box in placed on the arm and the other on the forehead. Before prayer, they position the head Tefillin on the forehead just above the hairline. When the prayer is completed, the wearer repositions the Teffilin in the middle of his forehead just below the hairline.4 In addition; Jews sway their body back and forth during prayer at the Wailing Wall with their forehead pointing downwards.5

The Zoroastrians mark their forehead with cold sandalwood ash.7

BUDDHISM (560 B.C.)8
The most common characteristic of Buddhist deities is the mark (third eye) in the center of the forehead.9

TAOISM – (440 B.C.)10
In Taoism, students have “third eye” training. This involves focusing attention, while their eyes are closed, at a central point on the forehead between the two eyebrows.11

In Christianity, crossing oneself is a ritual made by many different branches. In the early Church, it is believed that the sign of the cross was made only on the forehead by using one finger. At present, the sign of the cross is made by touching first the forehead with a group of fingers and then the chest and both shoulders.13 Before Easter, some Christian worshippers use ash paste to mark the sign of the cross on their forehead.14

ISLAM (622 A.D.)15
During prayer, the Muslims kneel on a prayer carpet and touch the ground with their forehead. Since they pray five times a day, touching the ground leaves a dark spot on their forehead.16

Surely each religion has an explanation of its own with regards to the use of the forehead. Non-the-less, one wonders if there is a common denominator which explains their actions. After thorough research, it is quite possible that there are at least two possible explanations; both are based on the pineal gland known as the “third eye”.17

The pineal gland is a small endocrine gland located within the precise geometric center of the brain, between the two hemispheres, and behind the central point of the forehead, between the eyebrows. It is reddish-gray in color, the size of a pea, and the shape of a pine cone. It is a photosensitive organ and an important timekeeper for the human body. The pineal gland contains a complete map of the visual field of the eyes, and it plays several significant roles in human functioning. It allows us to visualize or imagine scenarios and fantasies or other visual construct. The pineal gland is called the “third eye” by ancient people. They believed that it has mystical powers. The ancient Egyptians and Greeks studied this gland and they understood its supernatural powers.18 Even the French philosopher Descartes considered the pineal gland as the “seat of the soul”.19 The symbol of the pineal gland, a pine cone, is found in many different civilizations of the world. The largest representation is located in the Vatican, “the Court of the Pine Cone”.20

One wonders as to how early men were communicating with each other before they developed the sign language. The answer could be found from studying the process by which birds navigate. There are many theories that explain how birds navigate. It seems that the most acceptable theory focus on their use of the Earth’s magnetic field. We know that the pineal gland in birds contains a magnetically-sensitive chemical that is initiated by light called “magneto-reception chemical”.21 This chemical permits birds to orient themselves in space and to travel from one location to another desired location. Pigeons were used by man to transport data up until recently. An international team of researchers from different universities studied this phenomenon and presented the first proof that the magneto-reception chemical concept can actually function with magnetic fields as small as those of Earth.22 In short, the pineal gland of birds acts as a navigation center or as a communication center. The magnetic fields that are generated in their pineal gland communicate with the magnetic field of Earth to inform the birds how to orient their bodies in space. If birds generate magnetic signals in their pineal gland for communication why not man also?

The brain of man is much larger than those of birds and more sophisticated. His pineal gland contains crystals that are piezoelectric in nature. They produce and send out electrical voltages under pressure.23 Whenever a piezoelectric crystal is mechanically deformed or subjected to pressure, it generates a small voltage known as piezoelectricity. This process is reversible. When a piezoelectric crystal is subjected to externally applied voltage, its shape changes slightly.24 Gramophones or phonographs or record players use the piezoelectric principle. Upon recording, the desired electrical signals are sent onto a recording crystal needle. The electrical current deforms the crystal thus making minute grooves on the recording disk. Upon playing back the recorded disk on a phonograph, the grooves in the disc will deform its crystal needle thus producing the exact electrical currents that were sent out during the recording process.25 It is quite possible that the pineal gland in early man had more crystals than ours which permitted early men to communicate with each other using piezoelectric-magnetic signals.

Let us assume that a person wishes to inform his friend that he wants to go hunting. He faces his friend, eye to eye, and generates in his brains the pictorial picture of the game. The brain generates electromagnetic patterns of the game which are received by the crystals in his pineal gland. The pressure of the electromagnetic waves deforms the crystals and causes them to transmit in turn piezoelectric-magnetic fields through his eyes. The eyes of his friend receive these signals and they are read by the crystals in his pineal gland. They deform the crystals causing them in turn to send piezoelectric voltages or currents or electromagnetic signals to his brain projecting the initial picture that was generated in the brain of the sender. In short, the crystals in the pineal gland of the first person  records the message while the crystals in the pineal gland of the second person playback the recording and vice versa. Since the eyes are the mirror of thoughts, the pineal gland in human beings acts as a communication center or a sending/receiving station of the information that is generated in the brain. This type of communication has limitations to only few addressable needs. That is why man developed the sign language followed by speech.

Most probably the function of the pineal gland as a communication center was relayed from generation to generation. As time passed, the pineal gland was considered by men as the center of communication not only between themselves but also between man and supernatural realms.  For this reason, religions use the forehead to point out the location of this very important center that connects man with paranormal powers.

As mentioned earlier, ancient people believed that the pineal gland has supernatural powers. They must have reached this conclusion after experiencing some sort of communication with higher levels. This implies that there is a gland in the human body which secretes a hallucinogen chemical. Upon activation of the gland, it secretes the chemical and sends a person through a psychedelic trip. He will experience kaleidoscopic sounds, images, and contacts with higher spiritual levels.

Scientists in many different psychological institutes studied normal people and psychiatric patients for evidence of psychedelic body fluids. They collected samples of their urine for a certain period of time. The samples revealed that Dimethyltryptamine (DMT) excretion was present in all the urine samples. The largest abnormal percentage was present among schizophrenia and mania patients and among patients with psychotic disorders such as hallucinations and delusions.26 DMT is an illegal powerful psychedelic drug. It is found in plants, animals, and human beings. When inhaled or injected or smoked, the user goes into a psychedelic trip and is transported to a completely different world including “out of body” experience. Sounds, images, contacts, and communication with supernatural forces are some of the experiences of the trip.27 DMT is not only found in the urine of normal people and psychiatric patients but also in the human brain.28 According to Dr. Rick Strassman, DMT is produced by the pineal gland.29

There are many hypotheses as to why the ancients considered the pineal gland as the “third eye”. Well, it seems mankind passed through different epochs. Each epoch has its own characteristics. We are at the present time in the space age. People before us were in the industrial revolution age. The Greeks were in the philosophy, logic, and ethics age. The Egyptians were in the construction age.  The ancients in question were most probably in the supernatural age. They were able to locate the gland by which they could communicate with higher spiritual levels. When they examined its secretion, maybe their pineal gland produced more DMT than ours, they discovered that it is similar to those found in psychoactive plants. Naturally occurring DMT has been known to man for thousands of years and psychoactive plants from the time man was gathering food. If we do not underestimate the knowledge and intelligence of these ancients, we can conclude that their selection of the pineal gland stems from its secretion of DMT.

Consequently, people who wish to connect with the metaphysical world activate their pineal gland to secrete large amounts of DMT. There are many ways by which the pineal gland can be activated such as: meditation, movement of the head backwards and forwards, movement of the head from left to right and vice versa, and spinning the whole body round and round.30 Before performing any of these actions, they will focus on only one issue and that is to reach the supernatural powers. Once they start their psychedelic journey, the saturated and pre-conditioned subconscious mind projects the stored information. This leads them to believe, upon regaining their consciousness that they were “out of their physical body” and in an audio visual contact with superior realms. Thus, we can conclude that major religions use the forehead to indicate the location of the most important center in the human body that connects man to paranormal powers.

Additional thoughts: Most probably DMT exists in the brain of human beings for a specific reason. It is quite possible that the pineal gland secretes the exact amount of DMT, on a daily basis, to keep the brain cells inert and active.  I believe that the pineal gland controls the mental status of human beings. The determining factor is the amount of DMT that is present in the urine of a person. Normal people will have in their urine a percentage of the exact amount of DMT that is required by the brain cells. Since people differ from each other, the required percentage of the normal amount falls between specific limits. Amounts above or below these limits will contribute to psychotic disorder or Alzheimer respectively.

Psychotic disorder patients have more DMT in their urine than normal people. However, there is no available data on the amount of DMT in the urine of Alzheimer patients either on the net or at 5 major laboratories in town. If the amount is found to be less than for normal people, then urine test for DMT could become a routine test requested by family doctors. In general, family doctors demand blood and urine tests on yearly bases for their patients whether they are in good health or otherwise. If the amount of DMT falls outside the limits of the normal range, a supervised preventive medical treatment could be used. Those with higher levels will be treated to neutralize the excess amount of DMT and those with lower levels will be treated to compensate for the deficiency. Another possibility is to control the secretion of the pineal gland by its activation or de-activation.

I sincerely hope that this hypothesis will be taken up by scientists and enthuse them to conduct a research.

In Christianity, crossing oneself is a ritual made by many different branches. In the early Church, it is believed that the sign of the cross was made only on the forehead by using one finger. On one day of the year, some Christians put a mark on the forehead.
That's a pretty tiny feature, carefully cherry picked.

"In Christianity, crossing oneself is a ritual made by many different branches."
Yes, and they cross their heart,

Is the rest of your "evidence" equally bad?
