Title: Molluscum contagiosum
Post by: Bow on 31/07/2006 23:49:11
My friends 7 year old has been through hell and back over her skin problems. She has finally been told it is Molluscum contagiosum and she will just have to wait it out. She can't stand properly as it's also on the backs of her knees. Please help. We were told that Thuja is a good complimentary therapy for it but we don't really know. She also has a bad diet and her immunity is low. Could this be making it worse? Also could she take something like echinacea at the same time. We are at our wits end and the doctors don't seem interested. Please any advice would be helpful.ZymaDerm is on the net as an FDA approved drug but we can't get hold of it in this country. Maybe that's becasue it's homoepathic

My son had molluscum at the age of 18 month old. We had few dermatologist visits, so few of them were painted, after few hours they became blisters, it took a while for them to heal. Anyway, to make a long story short all the things we applied worked for some of them and did not for anothers, for some of them were too close to his eye, and I just could not put any of the medicine. Then my mom told me to stop treating the consequence and take care or the real reason (which is always inside of the body). So he start drinking flax seed drink (I greated it first, together with cloves, and boiled it, about 1 table spoon for 7-8oz. of water)--sure enough, two weeks later ALL of them were gone without applying anything on his skin, his face is clean and he has no pigmentation marks, nore scars. Flax seeds are highly antibacterial as well as cloves. You can do more research if you wish. Good luck and be healthy!

To answer the question, yes, immunity does play a factor in Molluscum.  PLEASE do NOT let a doctor tell you that waiting it out is the answer.  IT IS NOT WORTH THE RISK.  No matter which treatment option you chose, please do not just wait it out.

I WILL AGREE there is a VERY GOOD chance that your child will just have a few lesions and it will go away on its own.  Since I have a child where the pediatrician told us this I know.  I also know that my child was one that had a BAD reaction to Molluscum since he also suffered from Eczema already.  Since he had Eczema, it allowed the Mollsucum to spread all over.  How did he get Molluscum, FROM HIS SISTER!!  Had we just treated her 3-5 lesions, it would have been over!  Over for her sister and her brother!  Yes, she got over Molluscum quickly but her sister and brother did NOT!

I am not trying to scare anyone but it just isn't worth it.

Next, if you are looking for a treatment, be sure to understand exactly how that treatment works.  I would NOT recommend treatments that blister or cannot be used on healthy skin to be used first.  I am NOT saying these do not WORK but they would be a second or third choice.  ALSO, freezing the lesions caused us to have to deal with a MRSA infection in our son.  It is EXTREMELY painful for young children so I would not recommend that either as a first treatment option unless you have very few lesions.

What treatment do I recommend?  My personal success story was with Silvercure.  It can be shipped world wide and it can treat all skin including healthy skin.  It is very comprehensive!  They have products for every kind of hygiene: Mouth wash, Body Wash, Soap, Shampoo, Conditioner, Body Lotion, Ointment.

My 3 year old has had this since Feb. We were told that it was only contagious to himself, and that it would 'just go away' but it could take up to 2 years. We have recently moved to a hot climate, and it seems to have got worse, with more large sore spots. It was awkward when going swimming as I felt I had to explain myself -  he looked like he had chicken pox or something! Despite being told it was not contagious my youngest son also picked it up. We were at our wits end as not only did they look horrid but they were sore and bleeding especially under his arms, and were spreading and getting worse not better. I searched the web and we tried a few things, but what worked for us was spraying them with spray plaster every other day - amazingly in 2 weeks they have cleared up and all that remains is feint red marks on his skin where the spots were. All I can think of is that the spray plaster sealed the spots and stopped them spreading when they burst. He is much happier and so are we. Now we know it works we are trying it with his little brother.

It might not work for everyone, but it worked for us, it was cheap and painless. Give it a try!  Good luck!

Hello to All Naked Scientists! I'm new here and have a problem I would like to discuss with you.
It's that nasty MOLLUSCUM that my 3 yo has. I've read in one of the posts that urine was helpful in treating molluscum. I know urine has some healing properties because concenrtation camp survivors used it to treat their sores. So I've tried urine on my daughter's molluscum  and it seemed to work. Just after 3 days a couple of growths opened up, the white substance came out and they healed. BUT now hundreds of them showed up on her arms and legs and some on the trunk of her body. What the *** happened here??? Maybe I should have covered them up after they opened up...? Did anyone else try urine?
