The UK system had 377 active lines and was supposed to interlace but in reality only high grade monitors did infact interlace virtually all domestic receivers simply paired the frames up giving a 188 llne picture how ever carefully one tried to adjust them.
The worlds first TV system when we invented TV used a lot of German and American equipment

But most receivers in the 1950s used ex-radar IF strips populated with EF51 valves, which led to the further defeat of Germany in 1966, warm beer, and old ladies cycling to evensong. Nothing wrong with a bit of heritage, lad. And just to rub it in, colour TV was ushered in with the Black and White Minstrel Show - what could be more British than a blend of crap music and racism?
