Title: Snopes.com, a joke?
Post by: yor_on on 09/01/2010 00:48:28
Anyone been on Snopes.com?

I saw a compatriot of mine taking some undeserved beating there so naturally I wanted to give his statements some backup and substance.

Well, registering  I found that the moderators needed to confirm that my email that I already gotten an affirmation to, and which I already had activated from said mail account still needed to be confirmed by them, a second time?

And under that time I couldn't post?

Talk about pomposity :)

After waiting a while without any Moderator I wrote them and asked what they were doing? Checking me with the CIA ::)) or what?

Waiting some more I decided that the trouble with registration and combination of no replies made this site really uninteresting in my eyes. So, okay, I told them I was going to take my ass of the site and 'un-register' myself.

Well, I can't. Apparently I'm not allowed into my own profile (CP) without a Moderator..

So, as I was planning a visit to the bathroom anyway I wrote them and asked if I was allowed to wipe it myself, or if I needed to wait for an moderator. I mean, they seemed so... Strict?

Could it be a 'S&M' site in disguise???
This sort of 'welcoming' was a first for me?

Anyone that can explain their behavior?

I just heard it was a bug or bad site on facebook and that you should delete it from your system and run a thorough malware check.. Just what I heard ...

That is just malware authors trying to discredit the sites name. I've been using it for a couple of years, it's perfectly safe. It's a site dedicated to mythbusting & explaining the origins of urban legends, as well as looking for kernels of truth in those legends.

They can explain their behaviour much better than us guessing why.

Well, I did ask them, but they couldn't be bothered it seems?
But you're right. If they had bothered I most probably wouldn't :)

Have bothered with asking here, that is.

I'm pretty sure you were correct in assuming it's a M&S (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0vbqN9bB1MI) site.

Ah, so that's why they're so 'seclet'?
Those nifty, lofty, silken, frilly things, so alluringly calling for us?

So I was weighted and not found worthy then?
