Seems to involve psychology. You cannot listen to a commentary for 5 minutes without a commentator telling us what a particular participant "must" be thinking - or the team "they mustn't sit back on their lead" .

The manager is some kind of high priest in the process "what did he tell them at half time?".

Some of us hated sport (even whilst enjoying playing it). Perhaps it shows?  ;)

(Used to skive off for a trip into town half way through the cross country runs .)

edit What this thread is doing in "Physics, Astronomy & Cosmology"  have no idea.

The aerodynamics of a spinning ball is (are?) crucial to many sports, and the greatest sport of all, gliding, is all about physics, meteorology and geography. Boxers and wrestlers spend a lot of time studying applied anatomy, and physiology is the key to track and field athletics. In fact it's diffcult to think of any physical competition where experimental sciences don't play a part, and if you want to include mathematics and statistics, you can add chess and backgammon to the list.

Of course! Sport is very important for your health and body. Even if you do not know how to do it right, it would be a smart decision to ask for professional help, to go to a trainer in order to avoid injuries.
