Title: Why Does Saying 'Gesundheit' Change Things?
Post by: Jimbee on 08/02/2024 17:18:54
I don't know. I definitely have this problem. When I am about to sneeze and people say gesundheit, I am unable to sneeze. It's obviously something psychological. But why does that happen? And people say when one person in the room yawns, everyone has to yawn Is that true? And again, why?

"Gesundheit" means "health"
- Maybe you are suddenly cured and restored to health via your ear canals?

It's impressive that your friends and neighbors can anticipate your sneeze, and that you know it is a sneeze even though it never happens.

Everyone I know says "gesundheit" or "bless you" after someone sneezes, so we know it doesn't work in real time.

I don't think I've ever seen someone say gesundheit before someone sneezes.
