Title: Is it possible to turn Sodium Silicate in to Silica?
Post by: Marika on 21/06/2018 09:38:15
Geoff wants to know:

Is it possible to turn Sodium Silicate in to Silica? I would like to try that as a method of stabilising rock before cutting.

What do you think?

May I also add a foot note. I would be interested in an expansion of the chemical process also if it is possible.

"Is it possible to turn Sodium Silicate in to Silica?"
Yes, adding an acid to a solution of sodium silicate will produce silica gel.
I really don't see how that's going to help.
