I've just started using an Ubuntu based PC and strange things seem to be happening with text.
For instance, when I'm browsing the forums the text is fine. However, when I try to type a reply, the text I'm typing is so small I can barely read what I've put. The labels on some of the buttons is tiny too.
I've tried making the default text size bigger in Firefox, but that just makes what was big to start with even bigger and the small text remains small.
What's going on & how can I rectify it?

I am running on Ubuntu also.. I had that problem and had to adjust it....
I had to go to edit and click preferences Then click content I have my font size at 16 etc etc.. I want to say that is what I did!.. I believe as it no longer does that!

I'm not that familiar with FF but I'd guess that there'll be somewhere in it's preferences where you can set a minimum font size.

Ok - I've got the Debian version of FF (Iceape) opened here - go to Edit -> Preferences, then open the Appearance Category and click on Fonts. There should be a selection box below the Monospace font size box labelled 'Minimum font size' - here the default is set to 'none' - try setting it to 10.

Yep! its different then going to view and hitting text size and increase!

I haven't got a Fonts option. The only place I can alter the font size is in Content, and that's what I did.
Ah, hang on... it's under Advanced in Content. I've just altered it to 11 and it hasn't made the slightest bit of difference.
WOO-HOO! Done it. I had to change to a Sans Serif font and set min size to 14. Not a particularly nice font, but at least I can read it. It must have been about 6pt before.
It hasn't altered all the text though. The Quote, Modify and Delete options are still tiny and I'd be buggered if I didn't know what they are as they are almost illegibly small.

Ok - I've just booted up an Ubuntu 8.0 live CD - this won't have the latest updates but hopefully it won't be too far out of date.
On the FF Prefs->Content->fonts (advanced) dialog, can you see a check box labeled Allow pages to choose their own fonts instead of my selections above ?? If so, is it ticked? If you can't see this box, try enlarging the window vertically - it was only partially visible here until I did so. If you can, and it is, make it ain't.

I have used several versions of Ubuntu, and haven't had this problem.
Naturally,this makes it hard to give advice... Even so, I would
suggest using control+ in firefox to increase the font size
whenever you have such a problem.
