My views on the death penalty are still the same I don't agree with it and after viewing the distasteful pictures of his execution in the news paper this morning printed because i assume the News of the Worlds often mistaken belief that we enjoy looking at **** like that I'm even more anti.
How the hell can they show pictures on the front page of the best selling news paper in the UK of him standing there with a noose around his neck  [:o],don't they realize normal respectable people have no need or wish to view CRAP like that, and it makes you wonder why children these days have less care and respect for their fellow human beings when they are shown close up picture's of a man Before During and After his execution in every single sunday news paper in the UK. Sorry i think its gross. [>:(]

The tabloids are making money out of someone's death, why cant the newspapers find something which we will all enjoy to read about or view for once.

I was at the grocery store yesterday and a teenager there was saying "I can't wait to get home from work today so I can go on the internet and get video of Saddam getting hung". It was embarrassing to hear someone talk that way, even if the man is guilty of genocide. Execution, even of such a criminal, should be a sad duty rather than a deliciously fun entertainment. Or should we return to the public hangings of the year 1750? Those hangings of purse snatchers and highwaymen did nothing to discourage the crimes, just a pointless exercise in brutality. Saddam's execution is undermined morally by the fact that there are many heads of state guilty of the same crimes who are allowed to continue their genocide because it is too inconvenient or costly for us to remove them. I think here of Sudan and North Korea. Vladimir Putin may also be guilty of murder in the recent Polonium poisoning case, but nobody is ever going to hang him.  We still live in fear of tyrants, rather than tyrants living in fear of us.

I so agree with you Michael! I am disgusted that they can put this in the paper and  it's the first thing I see when I sign on to my server. I think it is distasteful and horrible that they can do this.. Are we a society of barbaric human beings who take pleasure in watching such a act of terror of and in itself! Is this what the world thinks of as entertainment???? What are the children going to think when they see Mommy and Daddy picking up a paper with this and reading it at the table or when there are gentleman or ladies discussing this in the supermarket in the stores or just on the street, as they indeed will? What is this teaching our children. Have we as a society not yet moved out of this Barbaric and horrific mindset?? Tell me please what pleasure is there in seeing a human die. In seeing anything die like that?? I do not understand.. I still hate the death penalty and because there is nothing I can do about it, I am forced to see it's results everywhere I look!! It is out of my realm of understanding how such an act will teach another human being NOT TO TAKE ANOTHER LIFE!! This only models what humans can do to each other and makes it, by societies own observance of it, a more acceptable way to effect change in individuals who are already unbalanced ! So we are going to Teach our children that legalized murder is OK! That it is how you stop murder?? NO NO NO!!! Children Learn through Modeling the most.. So we model these barbaric Rituals  and we teach our children Hate and Retaliation! When we view these things as the norm, we then are speaking as one voice, that overpowers the individual voice who are trying to teach compassion and love and understanding forgiveness.

I despise what the man did and what he represented, I despise it! Two wrongs do not make one right.(the death penalty) It does not change what happened to all those beautiful people... It doesn't bring them back or erase the horrid pictures their loved ones bare inside their memories !! This only hampers healing.. The heart still becomes bitter and even more hardened by the act as now that weighs also on the conscience of the remaining families and people!!

I want to teach my children how to resolve conflicts how to find new ways to deal with these things.. We need to problem solve when children are small so we can prevent these atrocious acts in the first place! We need systems in place that try to help individuals who display these tendencies as young children! We are already able to pinpoint children who have these violent tendencies, but where is the funding to get them help to teach them better ways to control and express there feeling! Where is society now .. We are not addressing the problem at it's onset where it needs to be addressed ! The death penalty is a Big Bandaide which is supposed to help heal wounds but it does not work.. because there is too much bleeding for it to heal the wound!!!! It just creates a bigger infection that builds inside the body and the heart, it damages the mind and soul of the remaining individuals who are left to remember !!

OH my I cry at the thought of how My heart has felt how each day I had tried to make since of murder and the death penalty. There is no SENSE in it.. The only healing I have ever found was through my beautiful memories of my friend and my family members who have past... I seek out the gentleness which was their very souls and I find comfort in their spirits, comfort in the goodness that they exuded while they lived...not in the way their lives were taken and not in the way punishment was carried out for these violent crimes!! God help us as a society if this is what we have become!

I read news and radio sites around the world.  Some developed societies as represented by their media, have an unsavory appetite for participation in the killing of this man.  It seems to me just a smaller example of his own reputed appetite.  Condemnation of this  kind of coverage is confined to the back pages as it were, or not represented at all.
