Song Lyrics...and that with these [left left] ??
kept out the ][/cuz otherwise they wouldn't show up of course ;)
-
No. In the first line where it says align="middle", change that to float="left". Do that in both sections of code.
However, it's Flash so may not work.
-
Thanks Doc. I see now. I will do that when i get home tonight If i have the time.
-
Make the time. I want to know if it works. [:(!]
-
Thanks Doc. :) But what about this..
(https://www.thenakedscientists.com/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi155.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fs319%2FKraneDiggity%2FTNS%2Fadfadf.jpg&hash=52785b0d3fbb6d4973a79eeab011f314)
Do i have to do the align"left" to the video lyrics and song lyrics also?
-
Yeah, you can try that or align="justify".
It looks to me as if there's a spurious line above the 2nd box, that's why the tops aren't aligned. Get rid of the "<br />" at the end of the first section and the "..".
It might look better if you add padding-right="1em" to the first section after float="left". If that doesn't work try padding-right="5px"
-
So I just post that right after the word? Or do I have to have something else so it knows what words to adjust?
Yeah I already got rid of that stuff..
But the only reason I think they aren't aligned is because of the text.. I'm gonna try it without the text first and see what happens.
-
Yeah they are fixed now. I like them like this though :)
(https://www.thenakedscientists.com/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi155.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fs319%2FKraneDiggity%2FTNS%2Fafdadsf.jpg&hash=43e00f1c33563926a8ed77d041f2210f)
But yeah explain on how to get the text underneath the box if you would please and thank you doc :)
Also is there a way to get a space between the text on top and the box??
-
But yeah explain on how to get the text underneath the box if you would please and thank you doc :)
I don't know if Flash supports it, but you could try caption="whatever text you want" after the float bit.
Also is there a way to get a space between the text on top and the box??
Yeah. Just add <br /> after the text. That's the newline tag.
-
Float bit? Sorry i'm stupid.
and I copied your <br /> do i need something else? cuz it didn't work...
thanks for you help doc.
-
Great job you guys.....
-
Let me see the code you've got now
-
ALright this is what I've got..once the page loads..
I'd like to not meet anyone. If are gonna add me cuz my picture if "hott" don't even.

Now tell me exactly what else you want to do.
-
I want a space inbetween the two boxes we have and the words above them. They other html coding stuff has nothing to do with what we are doing here..and I would also like to have Video Lyrics underneath the first box and Song Lyrics underneath the second box.
-
ok.
add this...
<style>
.spacebelow {margin-top: 0;margin-bottom:1em;}
</style>
then change...
I'd like to not meet anyone. If are gonna add me cuz my picture if "hott" don't even.
to...
<p class="spacebelow">I'd like to not meet anyone. If are gonna add me cuz my picture if "hott" don't even.</p>
If you want to make that bit look even better, check your spelling & grammar! [:P]
As for having the other text beneath the boxes, that's a bit more tricky. You may have to include the boxes in divs.
-
I guess I don't need that. Because it does have the title of the song and artist on both boxes.
Thanks Doc.
Now that we have all of that figured out.
And you like give me the basics on how to change the text size, font, and color?
-
If you mean in the text at the top, amend the spacebelow class thus...
<style>
.spacebelow {margin-top:0;margin-bottom:1em; font-size:2em; color:red; font-family:verdana, ariel, times roman;}
</style>
Alter the values of font-size, color, and font-family as required.
1em is the default size for text in your browser. 2em is bigger, 0.5em is smaller. Just set it to the size you want. Using em is preferable to using px (pixels) because of different monitor resolutions. You can't assume that all monitors will use the same size pixel grid for characters, so by putting something like 15px, you may actually make the text smaller rather than bigger.
Some old monitors or video cards can't display the full range of colours. If you stick to websafe colors, you'll be OK (aqua, black, blue, fuchsia, gray, green, lime, maroon, navy, olive, purple, red, silver, teal, white, and yellow). I don't, but I'm reckless [:D]
With font-family, the browser will try to display the text in the 1st font named. If the PC does not have that font it will try the second and so on. If none are found it will use the browser default.
-
Oh thank you Doc :)
-
If you want to learn HTML (and lots of other stuff), w3schools is a good tutorial site. Here's a link to their HTML tutorial.
http://www.w3schools.com/html/ (http://www.w3schools.com/html/)
-
Thanks for the millionth tume doc :)
-
No problem.
-
Now i'm making this um freewebs page for my parents and um I'm using HTML mode and I can't find um where to place codes and stuff. its just confusing ha
-
Go to http://www.oswd.org/ (http://www.oswd.org/), download a few templates and play with them. See what differences your changes make.
You can use Notepad for the editing if you want, but a better option, especially for a beginner, would be to download Hypertext Builder or Alleycode from here http://www.snapfiles.com/Freeware/webpublish/fweditors.html (http://www.snapfiles.com/Freeware/webpublish/fweditors.html). They are both easy to use and come with some goodies you may find useful. I use Hypertext builder myself when I create a layout to check that it works before I add all the php coding.
-
Thanks I"ll look at that more tonight or tomorrow night.
-
Thought about stretching the background and scrolling the content over the background?
-
Nvm I figured it out. Now I just gotta play around with it.
-
Doc. I used your link. Figured out how to get a background, but how do you center it? I coudln't seen to find the answer.
-
If your using style sheets (recommended) you can put this in the css
body{
width: 90%;
margin-left: 5%;
}
Using a width of 90% means you have 10% spare. To have it centered you want 5% each side so set the left margin to 5%.

<body background="http://i155.photobucket.com/albums/s319/KraneDiggity/Myspace/Sunset.jpg">
<body bgcolor="black">

That's all I got right now.

-
and i tried putting in your things and it didn't seem to work.
-
<HTML><HEAD><TITLE>KraneDiggity</TITLE></HEAD>
<BODY>
<h1>Welcome to my site!</h1>
<h2>I'm working on it and it will be up soon!<h2>
<BR><BR>
<body background="http://i155.photobucket.com/albums/s319/KraneDiggity/Myspace/Sunset.jpg">
<body bgcolor="black">
</FONT></Body></HTML>
A few mistakes I can see:-
Change the upper case tags to lower case - <BODY> to <body> etc. That will make it standards-compliant.
You've got 2 opening <h2> tags on the same line. The last 1 should be a closing tag </h2>
There's a closing </FONT> tag, but you haven't opened it with <FONT>. As there is no <font> declaration, you can delete the </FONT>
You're declaring a background image for the body but then saying you want a black background. Make up your mind which you want. If you want the image, I think you need to change the declaration to background-image="http://i155.photobucket.com/albums/s319/KraneDiggity/Myspace/Sunset.jpg". I know that's how it's declared with CSS, but I'm not sure about inline styles. Also, make sure you can hotlink to a photobucket image for the background. Some hosts don't allow hotlinking.
In addition to making the <BR> tags lower case, you need to add a backslash thus <br />.
To centre the background, change the body declaration to:-
<body background-image="http://i155.photobucket.com/albums/s319/KraneDiggity/Myspace/Sunset.jpg" width="90%" margin-left="5%">
With regards the <br /> tag, any tags that aren't explicitly closed need the backslash at the end of the tag. 1 you will probably use quite a lot is the <img src="whatever" /> tag for adding images to your page.
Let me know if it works or not.
-
Well. Half of that was what they gave me on my page that was orginaly made for me. and will do doc. thanks and the background..the image is 800x600. and that woudl leave um side things on my screen resloution..
hum well i hadda change your code to this to get the background to show up <body background="http://i155.photobucket.com/albums/s319/KraneDiggity/Myspace/Sunset.jpg" width="90%" margin-left="5%"> and it still didn't center it
-
Grrrrr at not using css. It would be a doddle. You could have this is your css:-
body{
bg-color: black;
}
#main{
width: 800px;
height: 600px;
margin-left: *see note*
background-image: "blahblah";
repeat: no-repeat;
}
*note* you need to calculate what the margin would be. Subtract 800 from your horizontal resolution then divide by 2. So, if your horiz res is 1200, you want (1200-800)/2=200. The declaration would then be:-
margin-left: 200px;
Then, in the code, you put:-
<body>
<div id="main">
add your content here
</div>
</body>
I'm not sure how it's done with inline styles as I don't use that. I'll see if I can find something & I'll let you know. I doubt it'll be today, though, as I'm really busy all day.
