Title: Do we sense temperature?
Post by: Deecart on 03/10/2022 17:15:38
I just read this : https://www.thenakedscientists.com/get-naked/experiments/how-we-sense-temperature

Here it is explained how we sense temperature.
But this is wrong.

We dont sense temperature, we sense heat transfer.
Here some explanation from Veritasium :

The Article mentions Sensing of Temperature Differences through our Nerve endings and how it is processed inside of the Brain.

It wasn't making a point on Heat Dissipation or Conduction.

P.S. - Both the Article & Veritasium are Correct.

We sense temperature, and heat-sensitive neurones fire at a rate proportionate to the temperature, notwithstanding effects of adaptation / accommodation.

If all of your outer skin is dead you cannot feel temperature anyway. But I do agree, you can touch something very hot very briefly and not feel it.
