I found this in northern California when i was 7 and have had it for years now and always wondered what it was exactly please help.

Have you done a hardness test? An acid test? It is hard to tell from just a picture. Looks like quartz or calcite, but with just a picture it is hard to tell.

Obviously a breccia- likely from a fault zone. Likely that the white veins are quartz, but as OW said, they could be calcite. Not sure what the host rock is- the purple color could either be quartzite or altered rock.
