If you rotate a hyperbola x² - y² = 1 around the y axis, you form a body with finite volume but infinite surface area, so you can paint an infinite surface by pouring in a finite can of paint, but not by spraying or brushing it.

Gigaevolution encompasses cosmological, astronomical, physical, chemical, biological and cultural processes on the largest scale. Biological megaevolution encompasses biological processes on the largest scales

So these made up terms are the same thing as far as biological evolution is concerned.  Why have two terms for the same thing, what ever that 'thing' is supposed to be.

He said that gigaevolution is not limited to biological process. In other words, it's the superset of biological process.

Any new technology will face some kind of inertia. It takes time for people to adapt. Some are quicker, while some other are more sluggish. That's normal. We can still find some societies who are living primitively. Natural selection will do its job.

IMO, it's hidden in the dimension of osmotic pressure pi, which is ML(-1)T(-2).
The higher the value of pi, the lower the equilibrium time will be. It can be done by increasing temperature.
As you said, diameter and length of the connecting tube will also be influential.

I think i'll drop out of this thread, as it is a bit too philosophical for me!

This kind of comment shows how broken our current system of philosophy is. It seems to fail our expectations on how philosophy should function. It should be the most basic tool for us as conscious entities to navigate the world, accumulate knowledge, and help in making decisions.

Many people seems to think that modern philosophy has lost most of its practicality, and getting more detached from reality. Our options are leaving it as it is, or try to reform it to make it more useful as how it was originally intended.

Metaphysics is mainly concerned with explaining the nature of being (existence) and the world. Traditionally, it has two different study areas, including Cosmology and Ontology. Cosmology is focused on understanding the origin, evolution, and the eventual fate of the universe, which include laws that keep it in functioning order. On the other hand, Ontology investigates various types of things that exist and their relationship with each other. Long before the discovery of modern science, all the science-related questions were asked as a part of Metaphysics.

Is beauty always subjective or can it be objective too? Can everyone find a thing/process/event/person beautiful? Aesthetics also examines individual tastes and attempts to provide answers about these things in a scientific manner.

Logic is the branch of philosophy that studies reasoning. It teaches us how to differentiate between good and bad reasoning and how to construct valid arguments. It seeks answers to questions like, what is valid reasoning? How can you distinguish between a good argument and a bad argument? How can you spot fallacies or errors in an argument?

Political Philosophy studies political government, laws, liberty, justice, rights, authority, political states and systems, ethics, and more related concepts under a variety of analytic lenses. Political philosophy helps us to understand why we need governments, the role played by governments, and what are its constituents, amongst other things. It can also help guide public policy formation through the use of informative and creative thought experiments (e.g. Rawls?s Reflective Equilibrium).

The " Universal " part.
If a whole city agrees & accepts it, then it becomes a City moral standard.
Similarly...
State moral standard.
Country/Nation moral standard.
Continental moral standard.
Planetary moral standard.
Interplanetary, Galactic, Intergalactic, Clusterial, Interclusterial, Observable universe & then finally " Universal Moral Standard ".

You can expand the scope by space like that. You can also expand the scope by similarities.
Let's start by individual moral standards. For the sake of the argument, assume that it's the smallest unit of consciousness where morality can be applied.
It can be expanded to siblings moral standards. Then clan's, tribe, race, species, genus, phylum, base chemicals, and finally universal moral standard. However you divide them, they will converge if their scope is expanded enough.

I'm not sure if we can communicate with unicellular organisms about our common goals. But it's pretty clear that they have instincts to survive and reproduce, which can be reasonably thought as the products of evolutionary process.

More to the point, most of them regard us either as enemies or food. What moral right do we have to determine their goals, or to assume that they are the same as ours?

It comes from our expectation that we know better than them about how the universe works, and we can better predict and affect future conditions, which makes us better equipped to achieve the universal goal. It's like how parents treat their little children. When they have outgrown us, the situation would be reversed.

Your idea of ' Universalism " seems very broad, it includes Alot.

Approximately 8.7 million species.

It also includes species not yet existing, aliens, and AGI.

Just a small group on a forum, at times, is not able to reach on a consensus or agreement.

If an idea is truly universal, sooner or later someone will discover it.

Exporting an entire terrarium to Mars would be expensive and completely pointless, like going on a foreign holiday and never getting off the bus. All you have achieved is to add some diesel fumes (or in this case rocket exhaust) to someone else's planet..

The point is to have diversified backup to prevent common mode failures. Multiplanetary civilization is a necessary step if we want to achieve multistellar civilization. The other alternative is to go extinct with the destruction of the earth.

Good deeds do not require justification.

The mantra justifies feeling good while being too lazy to think throughout the consequences of the deeds.
There must be some reason to call them good in the first place, and distinguish them from the bad ones. Otherwise, everyone will do anything they like and call them good deeds. Inquisitors thought that they were doing good deeds. So did slave traders and Holocaust deniers.
The justification may only become obvious in a hindsight. Even AI models can improve their performance through self reflection.

I've seen the video. It's an FPS game with improved 3D environment and real time ray tracing. I've also seen a demo of unreal Engine that looks like real life. They will even get better in the futurefuture that we will find it hard to distinguish from reality.
