General Science / Re: Can science and religion co-exist?

Well some consider science to be a form of religion. In my opinion at least science is simply the study of nature, some religions do not focus on things like commandments or written word and stories, so much as pure spirituality. These forms of religions generally do not conflict with science in any overt way. Even if we were to add the supernatural to the picture then well 400 years ago a cell phone would be considered a supernatural object. So while science focuses on that which can be tested that does not inherently conflict with what we would consider a supernatural force or being as they may just currently be beyond our ability to test or detect.
That being said if we were to get into specifics and bring up Christianity, the truth of the matter is that just like any other religion it is constantly changing and adapting to the times. Christianity itself is just an offshoot of Judaism, just as Islam is an offshoot of Christianity. Science too continues to adapt and change by the day. We live in an interesting time where these too ideals are co-existing. there are theists, atheists, and agnostics-there people who believe in only one or both. And this is only the beginning as time goes on both sides will change and adapt to an ever evolving world. While it is possible that one day religion and science will come to a head and only one will come out on top. It is also possible that they will both adapt and grow and will co-exist peacefully and fully.
In answering the question though, do not religion and science both exist right now? Science in a broad sense has existed for thousands of years, and organized religion is at least that old if not older. In my opinion a better question is whether both science and religion will continue to adapt to this ever changing planet or will one fail to adapt and simply die off? and as for that question, only time will tell.
