Title: What the best ratio of fish to tank size, for a fish farm?
Post by: Jolly2 on 14/02/2021 18:56:24
I was wondering if anyone had a suggestion; For best practice with the amount of fish farmed compared to the tank size?

I've currently got 1 cm of fish per litre.

Catfish farming ignores such parameters.  With aerated water.  The fish are fed until sell weight.  Then put in O2 sat cold water, and trucked to fish packer plant.  Each truck fish tank takes one fish between two plates.....in a microwave.  And tasted.  If passed......they are bought and processed.

I spent 30 days in Augusta, automating seven 5 acre ponds.   All functions done at his computer desk now.  Saved him 3000 bucks a mo. on juice alone.   Eliminated all fish kills.  Was rewarded with a very high bonus.

He was a Mennonite, dairy farmer.  Sold his herd and built ponds.  Whole family took turns monitoring O2 thru every nite, trying to prevent fish kills.    Now they farm fish with automated sensors and control tech, and sleep at nite.  And have built more ponds.

Must be a bit sadly small for the Fish.
☹️
Almost like a human sentenced to live their whole life in the washroom of the house & never be able to come out.
😑

P.S. - Oh! But who cares, fish can't feel any pain, so contemplating sadness is sillily vain!
