Perhaps Dr Waldinger's study will help to answer. Was this treatment effective also for fatigue?
Same with me. However, looking at pornography can make things worse. Also, if I get really close to orgasm, I often can't just stop everything and go back to normal. I'll feel quite tense. I don't think this is specific to POIS, I think this is normal. This makes me think it would be hard to follow Marnia's (sex without orgasm) suggestions.
Since we are all axiously awaiting Dr. Waldingers treatment, I thought it might be interesting if we all shared our thoughts about what his cause/treatment will be. Here is my best shot:After 19 yrs of this issue, and spending multiple thousands of $$ on 'cures' or seeing specialists and trying everything imaginable, such as: Ozone,Chelation, I.V. antibiotics, I.V. vitamins,Bio feedback, Rife,HGH, testosterone (cream, patch and injections),B12 shots, depression meds, diets, hydrocortisone, prednisone, vitamins, herbs, colonics, diflucan[for systemic yeast],I.V. hydrogen Peroxide, colloidal silver,I.V. C4, amalgan removal[teeth],assorted bloodwork, mri's, cat scans,etc... I have concluded that this problem[in my case] is probably closely related to exhausted adrenal glands, which is called hypoadrenalism. The adrenal glands are responsible for our bodies handling stress. Sex, and O put a huge amt of stress on the adrenal glands. When they become exhausted we can no longer function. If your glands are not that bad, you come back quicker[a few days]. If your glands are real bad, it takes weeks or months to recover from O.Adrenals make Testosterone and DHEA,as well as the vital cortico steriods your body need everyday for normal function.... This may explain low T levels for some of us pois sufferers. A classic symptom of low adrenal function is feeling exhausted even after a nights sleep, and feeling better after 8pm.Do a google search about hypo-adrenalism, or low adrenal fuction symptoms. The symptoms are errily close to those of POIS.Fatigue, brain fog, muscular weakness, thirst, hypogycemia. The answer MAY be adrenal support. I have used hydrocortisone during pois periods, and although it does not make me all better, it does pull me out of it. I am an unusual, multi-layerd case though, as I have been dealing with Lyme disease and systemic yeast for years.I may be just a weird case. Hope you all get relief soon. I cant wait for the Dr's findings! Thank you all for your efforts in this endevor. If POIS was a 'chic' disease, im sure everyone in hollywood would be having fundraisers and be in Washington or on TV, rallying for our cause. Thanks to every one of you! Your experiences have given me comfort and hope that our answer is coming soon!!!
Just last week I had an ACTH stimulation test, which tests for the functioning of the adrenal glands, hopefully when I get the results for this it'll clear up if adrenal fatigue has any play.
Stress might be a factor. The famous Britisch writer Jane Austen died because of the dissaese of Adison. That's a dissease when the drenal cortex doesn't produce enough cortisol and aldosterone. She died in the 19th century, so no worries. Nowadays that can't cure Adison, but they have a treatment. Adison is rare, 120 per million people. During a stressful situation into the adrenal glands normally cortisol, which enables the body to deal with that situation. In people with Addison's disease can be very serious stressful situations lead to a crisis of Addison and a shock. With POIS you don't get a shock. But an O might be a stressfull situation for the body. So I am in for the cortisol theory. Does someone know which vitamins/pills you can use for a shortage of cortisol? Something you can buy without perscription. We all have too experiment a bit. Offcourse we have to be carefull. I ordered Fenugreek and Mecuna Pruriens. P.S. Or is the opposite with POIS: drenal cortex makes too much cortisol after an O?
There are 2 major disorders of adrenal glands: Disease of Adison and Cushing's syndrome. I don't think POIS-patiensts have Cushing because you have to see this on your side
full blown POIS hits me like a falling anvil from above.
I just found this article :http://www.digitaljournal.com/article/286390#tab=comments&sc=&local=Not sure it's serious.I always think there is a little part of truth in concept of "adrenal fatigue", even if some charlatans are abusing of it to sell useless supplements.--Pauliebaby61 : I agree with you.

But if POIS people have hypercortisolism (my own urine tests have been high in cortisol), it does not seem to have a typical clinical manifestation of Cushing's.
