Technology / Will this make a saving in my electricity bill?
« on: 29/08/2011 14:27:52 »
simply buy a UPS, its a thing that is used in asia in loadshedding areas, it can power up ur things for like 4-8 hours, its made up of inverter and 2 truck batteries :)

Technology / Re: What is your opinion of the use of robotics in warfare?
« on: 29/08/2011 14:26:02 »
well its a very old topic and discussions were already done in late 60s and early 70s, but it was reported that its not feasible, because there is still no technology that assure 100% fool proof hardware, so its not a feasible option to go in the battle field to correct the malfunctioning and abandoning such costly unit will not only expose ur technology to the enemy but if any vulnerabulity is found can turn all ur army against you, plus robotic army is not suitable for extreme weathers, like rain or snow :).

Technology / How would you damp a camera?
« on: 29/08/2011 14:16:09 »
use honey, thats the best u will get out there

Technology / Do you like to make your own beer?
« on: 29/08/2011 14:15:27 »
get a patent for this invention ;)

Technology / Are LED lightbulbs worth the candle?
« on: 29/08/2011 14:13:27 »
well i live in Pakistan, where electricity is very expensive and very rare, most of the time we have loadsheddings due to excess energy consumption, so to reduce the bill cost i replaced all the bulbs in my home with this LED lights, it gave me a significant bill reduction, but then i got hands on a 1 watt bulbs and they are made in china and a single bulb gives of enough light to illuminate a room. got 10 plates of solar pannel which gives me 1 kWa for 6 hours, and for the rest of the day i had a 3 kWa generator. So this is how we are generating low cost energy at home.

Technology / Is this cold fusion idea going to work?
« on: 29/08/2011 14:06:48 »
i only heard about this cold fusion thing, in a movie " The Saint" somewhere in late 90s or early 2000s. Never read or heard abt it since then. Never saw any news or report abt it on the net as well.

Technology / Possible alternative to launching objects into space
« on: 29/08/2011 13:57:26 »
archimedis principal maybe

Technology / Why do bicycles have chains?
« on: 29/08/2011 13:53:27 »
those that have chains converts ur mechanical energy from the body to the rear tyre of the bicycle or it will just be an aerobic stationary cycle.

Technology / Is shopping online safe
« on: 29/08/2011 13:51:38 »
well it depends upon the type of network connection you are using and the encryption ur browser is supporting. Well even after that u are not secure because you never know what type of security is on the server. most people who got robbed online is always due to the breach in the server security and more recently its the server responsible, like if you see the sony entertainment server than the nintendos and various other commercial servers, most people complaint abt theft after using a public wifi... So its always uncertain u never know when this is going to happen u cant be 100% theft proof. The only thing is never shop online, or use third party cards like paypal and not the direct CCs.

Technology / Re: Are trucks more efficient than cars?
« on: 29/08/2011 13:46:06 »
yes your absolutely right, the more bigger the engine is the more power it generates and less the fuel consumption. the smaller the engine the less the energy generation and more the fuel consumption. Lets take the example of electric generators, the more bigger the generator is the more kWa it produces and the less the fuel it consumes as compared to one small generator or various smaller ones making an equivalent to that big one.

Technology / Why Can't James Use His Sisters Nintendo 3D ?

your welcome nelip and hey its once again good to see that ur still here with so many posts, keep up the good work.

Technology / Why Can't James Use His Sisters Nintendo 3D ?
« on: 29/08/2011 11:11:57 »
well small 3D screens starts creating strain on your eyes after a continuous 15 minute gaze, actually its not a true vision, both the front and the rear views are patrial and transparent, giving the illusion of deapth, so constant gaze at that illusion will confuse the occipital cortex and strats giving u headache and those with the history of migraine will have the pain initiated. So avoid using 3D if u have any previous or family history of migrain and contraindicated for those with the history of epilepsy or fits.

Technology / Do downloads make a computer weigh more?
« on: 29/08/2011 11:02:38 »
lets assume if 500 GB weigh 1 gm, still its a good deal for us, because carrying books equal to 500 GB would be like carrying a harvard university. Apart from the joke, hard disks are electromagnatic plates, they already have the charges on their plates, its just we alter them everytime we read or write data, so no net change in any mass or energy, u can say that it produces heat due to the head rotation.

14
Technology / How do we reduce aeroplane noise?
« on: 29/08/2011 10:56:38 »
well there are ways by which u can reduce the air traffic noise, but still the scientists and regulatory authorities didnt feel the need for it.

15
Technology / What is holding back electric car technology?
« on: 29/08/2011 10:54:35 »
real reason is no speed and holding that much volts and current would cost too much, u cant store AC current so u have to store it in DC and batteries cost too much with a less life, just see ur laptops battery ;).

Technology / Is Google's patent acquisitioning right?
« on: 29/08/2011 10:49:18 »
these tech giants are fighting so as to be the only major player left in the industry, like google is trying to own the web, apple trying to own the microgadgets. But even if they do so they will end up making a closed system, where the customer will be left with no choice. I was reading an article and there the analyst was right in saying that assume we just have one mail server left on the internet and thats google, and only one social networking site. This is pure enslavement. Thats is the reason internet is getting boring day by day, there is nothing left for a common man to contribute. There was a time when people used to maintain their own web page and try different stuff there, but today we can only say that those good days are over now.

Physiology & Medicine / Can eye 'exercises' improve eyesight?
« on: 24/07/2010 15:04:33 »
well we cant refuse any such concept, because in medicine there is something called placebo effect, many ppl are benifited from it and hence makes either a biased study or showing some relation to those, and its entirely up to the person to accept it or not. besides such tech dont have any side effect and hence got the approval.

Technology / Did Chinese and Japanese use Morse?
« on: 15/06/2008 22:22:22 »
ya sophiecentaur elaborated that it was not a device as i said it was used to be an operator who do the translation work.

Technology / Do magnets on car fuel lines affect engine running and efficiency?
« on: 15/06/2008 22:19:06 »
i dont think that mythbusters are the only people doing crazy things. i think nothing happens with it. it can only remove the metals in case there are any in the fuel to go into the engine and accumulates in the piston.

Technology / Can a water-filled transparent sphere act as a solar collector?
