Make some osmium tetroxide of course! Actually no, don't do this , i'm only joking. Osmium tetroxide is a particularly nasty substance. Personally i'd prefer some rhodium or ruthenium for making useful catalysts.

I think you are using 2 different nuances of gift.
As Alan and BC point out a gift of money, bullion, shares etc is very different from a personally selected gift to a special person.

Or in the case of some material gifts to royalty, put it in a public museum or zoo.  Not sure a lump of Os would attract many visitors.

Unfortunately, I do not have sufficient knowledge and confidence to make osmium tetroxide or something like that) Therefore, I would just give it to someone who knows what to do with it better than me)
