But there are limits to that determinacy, even macroscopically. We talk about 'goldilocks zones' defining where life has the best chance of existing in this universe, and we could use something similar for defining where we 'exist', in the 'now' and in the 'past'.

You would need a universe made out of determinism to make it probable. No Big Bang, no quantum mechanics, no relativity. A very Newtonian universe with atoms as marbles.

There are some that wants us, the universe and all, to be a simulation, like some computer game. But to get there you will need to introduce indeterminacy and probabilities. aka quantum logic's. And if there would be something 'making it'. How would you prove that they, or it, is the final step? What states that those 'making it' aren't 'made up' by something too?

It adds up to rather plausible explanation why we can't find extraterrestrial civilizations, communicating. They go extinct too fast once they reached a technological level, similar to us. Assuming a majority of them are driven the same way as us, by their game.

Then we need to add those those more or less 'rogue states', as defined from us in the west, having or wanting nuclear armaments.,  North Korea, Iran. and those we no longer want to define a rogue, as Israel or Saudi Arabia, Pakistan. As well as India.

Ideals beliefs and values. Nothing else, and we're fully prepared to destroy a planet over it.

Now, if that was the only thing existing it would be bad enough. Counting in topsoil, water and groundwater, starvation's and migrations it gets worse. Add global warming and you will get a catastrophe.

USA bases much of its maritime weight on aircraft carriers. Which China has a equally strong interest in countering. And USA is building 30% more of those than since the second world war, as I remember seeing, today. Both parties preparing for a conflict of interests. And a conventional war. But keeping it conventional will give China the upper hand.

I don't know what to make of this one.  December 2021. In equal terms informative, interesting, as well as questionable.

Looking back at those war drums, totally wrong. As well as looking at what USA sees as its next adversary. And as a extension, also NATO and EU. Otherwise quite interesting.

Overall I would say that democracy, privacy and rights are shrinking on all fronts. Doesn't matter what ideology's banner you wave.
