It took me a good amount of time to colorize and enhance in 4K (frame by frame) a scene from the 1929 debut Marx Brothers film
The Cocoanuts
. The copyright ai detected and blocked my attempt to post it on Youtube. I am angrier than if I caught someone in bed with my wife. It doesn't threaten Paramount Pictures' profits. On the contrary, it would/will get people
interested
in their work.

Well. the law says yes.
"Films
A film is any recording onto a medium from which a moving image can be produced.
Copyright in a film applies separately from the copyright and the term of protection for works or performances which are included in the film. 70 years after the death of the last surviving author, director, writer, or composer. If the identity of these persons is unknown then the term is 70 years from creation, or if released to the public, 70 years from being made available."

There was an extension to the copyright laws in the USA, enacted just before the copyright on Mickey Mouse would have expired. A similar law was passed in Europe.
- So I am afraid that the copyright owners want to keep milking that cash cow forever...
