Title: Davros is back
Post by: Make it Lady on 23/06/2008 20:51:03
I've just found out that Davros is going to be on Dr Who this week. He is my favorite. He made me wet my pants when I was little such are his scary credentials. I can't wait. *Runs around room, flapping arms in wild excitement* Captain Jack is on too, so much male totty and Daleks too, oh joy.
Can you tell that I'm a big fan?

I thought Davros was the kebab seller from Harry Enfield's early days.

No, No, Davros has hideous features. (http://image.guardian.co.uk/sys-images/Arts/Arts_/Pictures/2007/08/08/bobbydavro461.jpg)  [:)]

I believe the hemispherical Dalek bumps were originally the floats from ballcocks, (for cisterns etc).
So when Davros or a Dalek appears on screen you can legitimately shout out "what a lot of ballcocks".  [:)]

No they've always been Sink Plungers

Title: Davros is back
Post by: RD on 24/06/2008 11:55:57
No they've always been Sink Plungers
If the hemispheres were the cups from sink plungers they would have a large nipple-like socket where the plunger stick is attached.
I've never seen a Dalek with large nipples, with the possible exception of Anne Robinson. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Theweakestlinkwho.jpg) [:)]
The Dalek bumps are ballcock floats cut in half. The arm/weapon is a sink plunger.
[Plumbers-R-us must have made a fortune when the BBC special-effects boffin paid a visit].

I mean that the Daleks are upturned Pepper pots and the implements that they
use to "Ex-Terminate" with are actually Sink Plungers. I am not the only
person, who knows this but it seems that loads of others do too.

Re;Wiki-

Dalek's Physical characteristics
Externally, Daleks resemble human-sized salt or pepper shakers around five to six feet (152 to 183 cm) tall, with a single mechanical eyestalk mounted on a rotating dome, a gunstalk containing an energy weapon (or "death ray"), which can also be fitted with a projectile weapon, and a telescoping robot manipulator arm. In most cases, the manipulator resembles a sink plunger, but Daleks have been shown with arms that end in a tray, a mechanical claw, or other specialised equipment like flamethrowers and cutting torches. Daleks have used their plunger-like manipulator arms to interface with technology, crush a man's skull, the measure the intelligence of a subject,
Also to extract the brainwaves from a man's head (fatal, although it is implied that it doesn't need to be).
Dalek casings are made of a bonded polycarbide material dubbed "dalekanium" by a human in The Dalek Invasion of Earth. The Daleks also use this term for the material.

I love it when the Daleks suck someones face off with their plungers. The Dalek in our play had tennis balls cut in half and stuck on. We didn't even bother to paint them to add to the naffness.
I thought Davros was the kebab seller from Harry Enfield's early days.
I always get muddled up between the Dalek leader and Kojaks sidekick. He was the really think one.

Kojak's sidekick Stavros was played by Telly Savalas's brother George, (a pseudonym was used in the credits).
This nepotism does rather explain George's role/performance.

Talking about nepotism, did you know that the actress who plays The Dr's daughter is in fact the daughter of Peter Davidson, the former Dr Who, who wore the cricket gear and a stick of celery. I don't think that she is a very good actress and think some underhand casting went on. Even though she is rather beautiful, that can't have swung it as we all know that the Dr Who team bat for the other side.

To get back to the original topic, sadly it was a false alarm. It is not Davros that will appear on the next episode of Dr Who *sob* but it is going to be a new Dalek, that will be even more evil than Davros. I think if Davros does return it should be played by Russel T Davros himself!

Or Davros "The Cuprinol Kid" Dickinson. Note the change of weapon from plunger to gavel.

What about George Dubya Bush to play the megalomaniac Davros; George is going to be looking for work in a few months,
and he does have previous experience in world-domination. They won't even have to electronically alter his monotone voice.

Oh my god, oh my god, oh my god!!!!!!

Not only did Davros step out of the shadows with a chilling new metal hand and baby Daleks growing under his Edmund Scissor hands style smock but a normal Dalek goes and exterminates the Doctor on his way to snogging Rose. He then starts to regenerate. Boy they kept that really quiet. Normally the information is leaked out weeks before and the bookmakers put up possible suggestions as to who will be the new Dr. with odds accordingly placed. This time not a hint. Although I preferred Eccleston, I had just got into Tennant and thought he would be a long term Doctor. I'm in Shock.
Funny moments from the show:
Billy Pipers mouth seemed to get wider throughout the episode.
Loved Donna's sex face when she saw Captain Jack.
The Doctor talking to the Rhino Guards in the shadow proclamation.
The Doctor talking so fast about Bees that he got into the Guinness book of records.
The running joke about the ex-priminister.

For the next show:
Go Davros!

Doc Beaver no have you worked out, which actor or actress is the next person to play the Doctor?

Billy Piper - Rose ? I like the idea of a woman playing that role.

Terry Nation died in the early 1980s

Time will tell, I guess.

So if the doctor does turn into a woman, does that mean Billy Piper (Rose) will have to get her citizenship for Lesbos if she wants to carry on her affair with him/her. I guess we've had lots of man on man action on Torchwood so it would follow that there should be some girl on girl in Doctor Who.

Either that or the Doctor could come back as a horse....mmmmmm interesting.

I know Rosalind but I can't wait that long and if they intend to change a doctor, I need lots of notice as I get very attached to my Doctors. It took me quite a while to get over the loss of Chris Ecclestone but at least there was a bit of warning before it happened. I keep having a lie down to get over the shock.
Dr Beaver IS pulling our collective legs. He only knows A Terry Nation and not THE Terry. It was quite a convincing leg pull though as that Beaver gets everywhere.

Sharon, I had thought that Dr Beaver was pulling our legs about
THE REAL TERRY after all, he mention anything specific but it
was amusing all the same.

I would prefer the new Dr Who to be a good but not well-known actor, that would be an interesting way to boost their careers.

I have found out that David Tennant will be in 3 Christmas episodes but the
11th Doctor might be a man or a woman or 2 doctors together.
BTW David Morrissey or James Nesbitt or Rose ................. ??

Hate James Nesbitt, hate, hate and double hate. I'd quite like the blonde one from spooks, although the Doctor needs to be quirky and not classically handsome. I'd make a good Doctor!

I doubt it would be Rose but it might be that dreadful Doctors daughter woman. I hope not she can't act for a toffee. I am so worried that they are going to mess about with a formula that works and that I'll hate it.

OK, been on the crazy Who website again. Remember the severed hand in the jar. The one that was chopped off just after Eccleston became Tennant and Tennant grew a new one. Well, the Who fans reckon that when the Doctor regenerates, his body will become the new doctor and the hand will grow a new David Tennant body. This makes two Doctors. Neat!

Two David Tennants and Captain Jack, my cup runneth over. A bit annoyed that they didn't kill off the annoying Martha Jones and we will have to put up with her on Torchwood.

I will really miss Catherine Tate as the assistant as she was very funny and worked well with David T. I thought Mr Bleach did a very good Davros and I hope he will return soon.

So the question now is "Who will be the new assistant?" I'm glad David Tennat staid on but he won't be able to do that again in a hurry. That hand was very handy.
