Title: Where do whales get the oxygen to support their long dives?
Post by: thedoc on 31/03/2016 20:50:01
jon  asked the Naked Scientists:
I enjoyed the discussion about whales and the bends, but during that
discussion, something was brought up that I did not already know. This
is the fact that whales exhale before diving.  With this new
understanding, I now wonder how they have the oxygen to handle their
deep, and presumably long, dives.  It would be nice if someone could
explain where they get the oxygen to support their metabolism during the
dives

Thanks!

Jon
