it's very cool that they make films about the preservation of the planet, I think this will resonate with people and they will think about preserving our planet, start to preserve nature and resources 8)

That's a rather old movie I would say but definitely worth checking out. There are so many interesting documentaries and films on the topic of climate change and the environment in general, I can recommend Before the Flood (2016) and The Human Element (2019).

Hey, thanks for your recommendation. I think it is a really good thing to watch such movies and films and people should be more aware of the problem in this way. For me it is also very helpful to watch some documentaries about the earth (e.g. "our planet" on Netflix) just to see the beauty of our earth and to make clear that we have to protect the earth. These documentaries are extremely impressing and eyes-opening.

Hey,
I watched the film after your recommendation. Thanks for the tip. It is very frightening what we are doing to our planet but also fascinating how versatile it is. I definitely recommend the film. :)

I'm all about being eco-friendly and taking care of our planet, so this movie seems right up my alley. I love it when movies make you reflect on our behavior and the future we're creating.

I think there are two distinct concerns.

1. What we are doing to the planet is modifying its surface unsustainably.

2. What the planet is doing is an inexorable change in climate that will make life very uncomfortable.

Apropos 1, every living thing modifies its environment and excretes toxins. Species have evolved that consume those toxins  and emit their own, which are valuable to the first group. The obvious general example is the balance between plants, which consume CO2 and emit toxic oxygen, and animals that consume oxygen and plants, and emit toxic CO2. Since the invention of meat farming,  the balance has increasingly moved towards animals, and other industries produce toxins such as plastics for which there are no balancing life forms.

Apropos 2, humans have subjugated and colonised a lot of marginal territory which is going to disappear or become infertile in the foreseeable future.

Meanwhile, we have developed civil engineering and medicine to the point that the live human population is increasing, thus increasing the output of toxins and demand for land, and making the future less comfortable  for our descendants.

The worry is that it is not in any person's short-term interest to rebalance 1 or mitigate the effects of 2.

The surprise is that we seem to be the only species that can make useful longterm predictions, yet we fail to do anything to avert the predictable disaster, even when "anything" actually means "nothing".
