Jim why will things possibly LOOK STRANGE for the next day or two?
Is it only in the States or Australia, Uk etc?
FACTS, FACTS PLEASE AND NOW

The site has had a minor redesign, I hope you like it. You may have to refresh your browser a couple of times to get the full effect. While I was copying things over there were some quite strange effects.
-
Wow 3D fantastic!
-
That was really weird!
-
It is so weird and unfamiliar now.
I do not like it !!!!!!!!!!!

Gosh the ball flying out of the screen was really realistic.

Sharon I missed that one, where/when did you see the ball flying out of your monitors screen??
-
See, I told you so.
-
All I can see is a colour change.
-
There shouldn't be any flying balls... Just a colour change, new logos and some minor tweaks

I do hate to be the first to bring up any issue concerning the redesign, but I personally react to the darker colors in the message tables rather negatively. The almost grey-purple is causes a very negative reaction within me. The darker border with the brighter content tables, as it was in the coupe of days of transition, was much more attractive to me.
Sorry Dave, but in the preview we had the total impact was just not this striking.
This is depressing to me and quite uninviting. What about a new user?
I would like to hear the reactions from other persons as well.
-
Ehh?
This is exactly the same as the preview. I've just compared them...
Also, there was no "couple of days transition stage" if you hit refresh a couple of times it went straight from the old layout to the new one... so unfortunately no-one else has any idea what particular variant on the unrefreshed transition you were looking at.
-
I hit refresh once and half the screen to the left changed to new forum..Yet half the screen to right remained old forum colors and design... Then I hit refresh a second time and the color and design started from the top like peeling back a paper as the new design took over the right side also! Making transition complete on both sides of my screens... It was odd but kinda cool!
-
I'm with Jim on this.
-
Yes I thought you were bringing more of the Home page colors into the main topic threads to brighten it up.. This is very depressing color.. Needs color pulled into the top bars of each section.. reusing the colors on the opening page sidebar.....green bright orange yellow etc..

That depends on your browser ,and possibly cookies, it took 3 refreshes with IE to get the whole page layout and 2 with firefox.
Saying that, i prefer the colour change. Now if only the older board icons could get changed...

Hell, I don't care. It is the stimulating conversation I'm here for. The flying balls were fun though.

The reason I wish to see discussion on this subject is that it is the subtitles, such as (depressing) colors, that significantly impact the amount of site use, the number of users who join, the number of users who stay and the number of users who just disappear.
The fact that it took so long (2 full days) for my browser, which is set to get new images and compare stored code to downloaded code every time it loads a page, to actually load the complete page correctly means that the few visits to the preview site did not actually give those of us previewed the pages an accurate idea of the "look."
In toto, it is simply depressing with the 218,219,229 background color of this dark blue gray in which this message is showing up.
