Title: What jolly japes!
Post by: DoctorBeaver on 01/04/2008 08:18:05
Horace De Vere Cole was a man devoted to, one might almost say obsessed by, practical jokes. His most memorable prank was probably giving carefully selected free theatre tickets to bald men so that when their gleaming pates were seen from the Upper Circle a rather rude word could clearly be seen.

Mary Toft, born in 1703, was described as illiterate, was of small stature, with a healthy, strong constitution, and a sullen temper. Despite her humble origins she was able to fool several eminent London physicians including King George I's doctor, Sir Richard Manningham, into believing that she had given birth to a large litter of rabbits. Only when threatened with dissection by a group of Royal physicians was she persuaded to recant her story.

I saw a really bad April fool joke on a womens magazine programme this morning on TV. They said that a new treatment called glowtox cream was coming over from the US. They claimed it would make you lose weight if you spread it on your legs and then put on special socks. They then had a feature on a young woman that had tried it. She was very fat and her head didn't look in proportion. I realised it was someone in a fat suit. They then showed the girl 6 weeks later and of coarse she was very thin. They then talked about the science behind it all and gave out an information website which probably said April Fool on it.
Now I like a giggle but overweight people can feel quite desperate and depressed about their problem so holding out a miracle cure and then basically saying HAHA fatty is despicable. I hope they are ashamed.

Sitting around speaking of my father after the funeral, my brther recalled the time when we were very little children my father used a water soluble glue to adhere half of a peach pit to each of our cat's four feet. It was hilarious on our wooden floor.
