Title: What could be causing flu like syptoms after exercise?
Post by: thedoc on 27/10/2016 14:23:01
George Mitchell asked the Naked Scientists:
Am listening to a replay of TNS - it's 3.20 p.m 23rd Oct 2016 - There was a commentary on muscle reaction post exersise.
I've been trying to get a diagnosis of a syndrome experienced by me for 40 years (i'e. fom age 36 to 80)
Approx 2 days after any exersise involving the thigh muscles I get symptoms very close to that which occurs prior to a flu or heavy cold infection - Joint pain, lethargy, diarrhoe etc,- - it last for 3 to 4 days. It has no relationship with normal post ex muscular syptoms such as stiffness/soreness etc.
All test known to GP's and many specialist have been carried out including Sports Medical Specialist, to no avail. These have covered blood characteristics, blood flow, oxygen uptake, ECG's, BP, heart performance, stress tests etc etc etc.
Nothing has indicated any problem - I believe the syptoms started co-incidently with glandular fever at age 36
I'd appreciate any observation you may have.
