Title: what can i do to prevent stress related headaches and migraines?
Post by: kdlynn on 23/06/2007 06:38:10
my doctor says that my migraines and most of my headaches are caused by stress. he gave me some migraine medicine and told me to take it at the very first sign of a migraine. which is great, but he couldn't tell me any ways to avoid getting them at all. everyone has stress... so is there a way to handle it so that i don't end up with a massive headache on top of everything else?

I have been told the same thing more now after this last health issue.. I do not let things out.. I keep them inside and then I blow up it creates a huge amount of pressure and stress.. I am trying to talk about how I feel more .. but there are just things I cannot discuss with anyone else... I just can't..

You need to let things out..HA HA like I can do that! NOT!! LOL

Say what you feel but do it calmly! I have been known to blow like Chevy Chase in the National Lampoons Christmas Vacation.. where he doesn't get his Bonus but the jelly of the month or something like that!  You know the explosion right after! LOL That"s me.. Then I feel better release... breath... &%&%&%&%&%&%&%%^(*^^ahhhhh! LOL!

O.K What do you find stressful? If you can list them, then work through them, see which ones you can avoid, but also look to see why they stress you in the first place, then if you can, try not to find them stressful(re-evaluate them), if you cannot then except them. Do not forget stess can also be a helpful thing!

I recommend not telling people you have a headache, when you have it. As you could give them to yourself, so you can tell people, and gain attenion!

Drink plenty of water! As a recomendation, why not try something different everyday to see what effect it has! Try relaxing at around 11am for 10mins, go somewhere quite and medietate, sit in the garden or on the toilet.

Probably the best answer is do not worry about them as it will only make it worse!

I hope that helps

Hi, just wanna share this...

Yoga is an excellent exercise for Stress Relief. (http://www.ergonomic-resources.com) Sharing your problems with your loved ones can also help you get rid of stress. Aggressiveness and headaches are some of the physical symptoms of anxiety and stress. You can join weekend seminars on stress and tension management too. Red wine, if taken in moderate amount, provides quick 'stress relief'.

I found that most of my stress was PMS. I had all sorts of related stress problems due to my hormones. I solved this by having a Marina coil fitted as a contraceptive. This stops me from having a period and thus stops the PMS.I am much healthier and happier and even tempered. I also don't get road rage or the urge to kill myself and others (this was only an urge!!!) PMS can be quite severe for some people. If the migraines happen before your periods then this might be your problem however some contraceptives make migraines worse. This is obviously a consult your GP moment.

Don't give outside influences the opportunity to dictate your emotions.

Take control.
