Title: Ever Seen A Reversing Snail ?

Dearest Snailologists,

As a sheepy, I am of course capable of walking backwards..look..here I go ...*sheepy moonwalks*........." Shermoh !!! "

Say Veronica needed to reverse !..can she ?..I've never seen a snail reversing and I am studying them quite literally all the time !!*

So, we've all seen a horse fly but have ewe ever seen a snail reverse ?..I suspect if I were to give her a mobile phone and some make up then she would automatically reverse  whilst on the phone and applying her lipstick........but I figure I'd wait and see what ewe lot say about the nature of reversing snails.


Ewe see..I just don't know.

I don't know about the ability of snails to reverse, but they are hermaphrodite so that snail is just as much a "he" as a "she".

I think that if ewe're a snail, there's no point in being recidivist.

Snails move by muscular waves along their foot. I don't think this can be reversed. Let's face it, without wing mirrors, or much longer antenna, they wouldn't be able to see what's behind them. A snail wouldn't want to reverse into a hedgehog or thrush!

Oh I don't know...the way they are a garden nuisance peeves me off. They ought to arrested !  [;)]..It would save me having to gather them and put them in my neighbours garden !   [:)]

Surely they can just point those antenna things back a little ?..voila !

I gather it must be the same for slugs !...

What other animals can not reverse I wonder !

I once heard a quiet beeping noise and I couldn't figure out what it was. After much searching, I found a snail reversing nearby.

not all of them! There are also snailspecies of different sexes! like most of the ctenobranchias ;-)
