" The list is by far the biggest to emerge to date with the names of imprisoned Uyghurs, reflecting the sheer size of a Chinese government campaign that swept an estimated million or more people into internment camps and prisons. It also confirms what families and rights groups have said for years: China is relying on a system of long-term incarceration to keep the Uyghurs in check, wielding the law as a weapon of repression "
Probably close to the truth. But what was it again? " wielding the law as a weapon of repression "
How about those abortions?

Lists, we love them, don't we? There was lists for those going to gas chambers too. If we have the time we will produce lists. Reminds me of a book.
" The Infinity of Lists " by Umberto Eco.
He's a very special author, enjoy.

" Moscow’s invasion of Ukraine and international economic sanctions on Russia have disrupted supplies of fertiliser, wheat and other commodities from both countries, pushing up prices for food and fuel, especially in developing nations. Together the warring nations produce 30% of the world’s wheat.
Before the invasion in February, Ukraine was seen as the world’s bread basket, exporting 4.5m tonnes of agricultural produce per month through its ports – 12% of the planet’s wheat, 15% of its corn and half of its sunflower oil. "
One of those 'bread baskets', not the only one the Guardian. And it's about more than crops, f.ex steel, rare metals. If we look at USA their 'bread basket' is failing today, with this historic drought they're having, and so is their groundwater. And some of this are about things that will correct itself, if this war ends, our anthills starting to trade again.
But some of it won't.

" The national security adviser, Jake Sullivan, told reporters on Wednesday: “Our intelligence does reflect the genuine possibility that there will be either a further missile test, including long-range missile test, or a nuclear test, or frankly both in the days leading into, on or after the president’s trip to the region.
“We are preparing for all contingencies, including the possibility that such a provocation would occur while we are in Korea or in Japan,” Sullivan added.
Biden’s trip is intended in part to signal that he has not forgotten about US strategic interests in the Indo-Pacific despite the focus since February on Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. "
Of course not. It's our next step, isn't it?
USA?
NATO?

" Australia’s tropical rainforest trees have being dying at double the previous rate since the 1980s, seemingly because of global heating, according to new research that raises concerns tropical forests could start to release more carbon dioxide than they absorb. "
Funny
That word, "could".

" The scientists used 14 computer models to assess two scenarios, one was the heated world of today and the other was a world with no human-caused climate change. They found the 2010 heatwave was 100 times more likely in our hotter world. The analysis also found that such extreme heatwaves will happen almost every year by the end of the century, even if carbon emissions decline.
“Spells of heat have always been a feature of the region’s pre-monsoon climate during April and May,” said Dr Nikos Christidis, at the Met Office. “However, our study shows that climate change is driving the heat intensity of these spells.” "
Of course? Your Met office is quite innovative. Now they just need to find a way to add the unforeseen, and 'climate cascades' to it. And the wars, deforestation's, migrations, destruction of topsoil, water and added emissions to it, ad infinitum.

I won't call it wrong.

But it's a transitional effort, not a final, if we build them. And it has to be connected to a population decrease.

The reason for EU wet dreams about a own army and a own NSA is pretty simple. To counter not only USA:s efforts of spying and influencing but all other super powers too. But once you got it you will see new 'possibilities' open, just as USA do. Today I think the EU is starting to realize that they have to chose, and aligning itself with NATO, and so USA, becoming the lesser evil, from their new point of view.

And it's all a part of my worst case scenario. No trust, instead going into conflicts, evolving into wars. And USA knows it, they're building up for it too. They have a lot to lose by a world changing geopolitically and economically. At the same time as all resources and trade dwindle. So they will wait until it knocks on their own door, and you will follow their example.

I could write a very evil book about us all by now. Presenting us as a species without minds, driven by instincts evolving into a game, living in anthills we refer to as civilization. Greed and hubris defining it.
But there are mitigating circumstances to it. As with the game needing us ignorant to even have a chance to work. So it's more of a wrong turn evolutionary than about some evil masterminds leading us. It doesn't exclude personal responsibility though.
A tragicomedy.
