Title: What to download?
Post by: yor_on on 09/12/2010 10:31:18
I'm going to be away from the Internet for a while.
So any suggestions to what might amuse one, and are freely download-able?

Everything goes :)

Are you going to find polar bears?

Nice to have a pet :)

They are very white with me..

Here you go. You can do some really fancy simulations with this. It graphs velocity, acceleration, momentum, angular momentum etc etc.

Thnx Geezer, it seems real nice.
Xmas comes early  :)

Quite advanced in fact..
Take me a year to understand :)

And you do that one for fun?

Hmmm.

won't have any problem with free time anymore.

It's very nicely put together too. It just occurred to me that it might be nice if we could post the annimations it produces into threads.

Yeah it seems cool, looking at a video

Seems like you could have done a simulation of that 'middle of the earth' problem with it too?
Impressive.

It might be possible to use it to simulate the "journey through the center of the Earth" problem. JP's point is that the force exerted on the body is the same as the force exerted by a spring.

Maybe I should have expressed that differently?

You know how to use it?
If you do then  :)

You can also simulate the Coriolis force in it, it seems.

But I don't get where the patch should be installed?
It says that it will overwrite directories but there's no such directories??

I mean freecad9.pcl??
Do you know?

ahhh :)

Not directories.. a file.

It's been a long time since I installed it, so I can't remember. Yes, I have used it quite a bit, mainly for kinematic simulations. Some of the more advanced stuff is a bit beyond me, but I think it will let you do just about anything.

I have to take the dogs out now or they'll have me for lunch, but I'll poke around with the installation thing when I get back.

No it's ok, it was a file that got overwritten. This thing about overwriting directories fooled me for a moment. I'll try it later too :)
