Title: Does anything go from solid to liquid to solid when heated?
Post by: James Goode on 12/01/2011 09:30:02
James Goode  asked the Naked Scientists:

Hi,

I was hoping you could help me.  I would like to know if there is anything that when being heated will turn from solid to liquid, back to solid and then liquid, gas etc or any other similar strange behaviour.  I am of course assuming constant pressure.

Regards

James Goode

What do you think?

Sulfur undergoes several phase changes as it is increased in temperature. At the right pressure, it may do what you want.
