Here is another wonderful poem from my talented son.  This was a writing assignment at school.

Mom
Mom is a warm fire that never goes out, even when drenched in water.

Mom is a pillow, not to hard, yet not to soft.

Mom is a song that is stuck in your head, even when you don't want it to be.

Mom is a nice car with chromed rims and a nice sound system.

Mom is that great bus ride home from school, after you've had a long, hard day.


He learned early that being nice to Mom gets you STUFF.

OK, I shall see if I can dream up something anew (believe it or not, traditionally I could not write fiction or creatively to save my life, and English was about my worst subject at school – this metamorphosis is merely an aspect of senility creeping in).  In the meantime, while my brain goes off on holiday to refresh itself, I shall cheat, by regurgitating some of the old.

Back at the beginning of 2005, when my mother was ill in hospital, and I was feeling it was one of those cases when one feels the disadvantage of living alone, of not having someone to come home to and just curl up in their arms and forget all the pain of the world outside.  At that time, I penned (well, technically, keyed) the following:

The Touch of a Woman

That the boy within the man might find solace in the touch of a woman,
That in her arms he may find shelter and beauty,
That in her healing touch may the cares of this world disappear,
That in the warmth of her body and her soul, may his heart find warmth,
That with the touch of her skin against his, may his heart race, and his mind forget,
That for one moment, may he be a carefree boy again.

The Pain and The Pleasure

Darkness surrounds me here at this time!
I try to pray, but the words I can't find.

My heart is beating so slowly, my breaths are so shallow!
I feel his life over me, just like a shadow!

I try to cry out and my voice no longer helps me, the silence is so
loud that my own heartbeat is lost in the darkness that surrounds me!

I'm Feeling lost and afraid in this dark place I know, So I
must see with my mind for my heart won't let go!

I must not give in and allow it to take me,
I must hold on and not let it break me!

I have to hang on and climb up again, but Please God,

MY TRUE LOVE


My heart cries out for your love dear!I know not what to do!
My thoughts are eratic and jumbled and each one is for you!

My soul is so enraptured by your love that my heart feels as if it were on fire! I love you sweetheart, you are my hearts desire!

You are the breath I take in the moning air, you are the strength I draw from when your not here!

 My soul cries out to touch you, my love for you is clear, such joy and elation just floods me every time that you are near!

My heart is entangled within your heart too, and I can't tell any more which part is me and which part is you!

Like a beautiful dream you come to me now, awaking me  sweetly, by kissing my brow!

Oh be still my heart as I open my eyes, My heart cries out  as I realize, Tis but a dream this vision of you; Not what it seems, My hearts broke in two!

 Oh Love, that you hear my voice and come to me my friend, like the gentle rain thats falling down upon my head again.

Reaching out to touch your face, remembering your warm embrace; Feeling your hands touching mine, my soul is yours throughout all time!

Oh my love, my true love, I hold you close right now! I breath you in and hold you here a captive of my heart! I could never be alone love for we will never be apart!

I love you sweatheart, I love you true, my heart knows no bounds because of this love for you!

So be still my beating heart, and loneliness will flee, as I have you here inside within each memory!
